I am avoiding a lot of the GARM this weekend, because I just can't deal with most of the comments. So if this is being talked about in another thread just direct me there. However, the fact that we received news that now Steve Novak is being called up from the D-league as well having Brooks come up when Rafer was hurt, has me wondering if there are trades in the works? Or close to being completed. What do you all think? I will be honest, last year was my first experience in following an NBA team for a full season and I didn't really feel like a trade was going to be made all season. But this year feels like something has to change. What do you all think? And please don't make this a "insert random player here" sucks thread. I thank you.
I never felt like they need a trade as much as I feel right now. Having so many players sharing the same position is causing caos and no formula is geeting the works long enough.
We got problems! Big problems. When Yao, Scola and Bonzi are the only ones showing any anger, frustration, attitude ... something has to change. Brooks should be our PG because the rest of the retreads either have no game or no heart or in some cases both. Last nights game made we want to puke. The Mavs are not our intrastate rival, they are our intrastate DOMINATRIX! Sunshine pump it all you want to lose because you did not get shots to fall to close the game is one thing, to not compete and even quit at the end is another. Yeah, I see some trades a coming within a week or two at most. This can't go on for much longer or else this season is LOST in a division like ours.
I guess what I am asking is what are the signs? Is it possible to guess when a trade will be made or have most of them surprised yall in the past?
I believe Les and Morey will never admitt that they have made several mistakes! Further to that, I think they will be reluctant to correct these un admitted mistakes. They will wait till the end of the season when we either don't make the playoffs or go out again in round one. They will blame everything on Coach A! Next season there should be major changes and goals defined, with a new coach who can coach and develop players. However Les will act if he is in danger of loosing Money/ Yao.
Interesting observation here. I missed the game Sat but I just finished watching the replay. It's certainly possible. At the same time all our guards have been pretty avg (at best) handling the ball, and on top of that we are still a poor jump shooting team. Brooks and Novak provide more options for each problem, respectively. To sum up...I have no idea.
JVG used to give hints. The only one I remember is when they had a deal in place for Jon Barry and he said something like they were bringing a player back home. Barry had been a ballboy for the Rockets when his father played.
I honestly don't see anything in the works. On a personal note, I don't see any realistic trades that could help this team. The lack of intensity seems to have spread throughout most of the team so unless there is a deal that will let us get rid of at least 2 of the problem guys and bring in a talented, vet who McGrady would respect then I don't see anything worth trying.
I think that with 3 days of practice, Rick Adelman wants to look at everyone on his roster before they make a trade etc. Also, I don't think you have to be called up to be part of a trade, so I think the 3 days of practice time is why they are being called up. DD
I've been fairly skeptical of the Rockets personnel over the past 8 or so seasons...Glen Rice, Shandon Anderson, Kelvin Cato, etc, etc thru today. So I pay alot of attention. But I'm generally very surprised when the Rockets make a trade. The major point that we shouldn't lose sight of. Battier and James make MLE $...~$5.5m. And at least 7 Rockets have contracts less than $3.0m. There really doesn't appear to be contract $ to do a whole lot. Plus IMHO any trade Morey does pull off smacks of ooooops....it's a "do over".
When Brooks was called up it was understandable since Rafer was out and Francis had missed practise due to his knee. With Novak I thought maybe a trade at first but now not so much. In Fritz's latest interview with Morey, Morey mentioned they could make a trade by simply reshuffling their rotation because they were so deep. In the Adelman's press conference after the Mavs game. The video's on the Rockets website. Adelman seems to be exasperated with the poor shooting which has been "a complete struggle all year long". I think they're just recalling Novak for his shooting. It's a desperation move as was suggested by a poster in another thread.
The changes this time should involve the entire orgnization. The losing mentality is so overwhelming and every player they have is unproven in the post season (scola, james, francis, rafer, tmac, yao, head, bonzi except vs SA, battier, hayes) and it has been like that for years. Changes shoulf include one of the big two YAO ot TMAC.
The bottom line when all is said and done is that Adelman doesn't know how to best use the talent on his team! PERIOD!
TRADE TMAC OR YAO SHOULD SAY TO BOSS,PLS SENT ME TO OTHER TEAM . I THINK IT'S BETTER TO BE A LAKER,BECAUSE KOBE IS A REAL FIGHTER!
I think Morey did all he could, there were certainly reasons to believe that his moves would help the team, they didn't. Now, what do you do? I have never seen Francis and James look worse. TMac's shooting has been on a decline for at least two seasons. His amazing hot streaks hide the fact that he is shooting career low percentages. Yao has never looked the same after his injury last year. He looks slower and more hesitant, like he did his rookie year. Battier, looks slower and more "out of place." Rafer, a horrible shooter, is even more horrible. Head looks like his confidence is gone, and generally the whole team looks lost. Adelman looks like he is ready for a nap. A low energy, laid back coach is not exactly what this group of underachievers needs to get going. A huge mess. If I were in charge, I would get a new owner, a new scouting team, a GM who has actually played basketball, and several different players. At this point, I would make wholesale changes like, find a new home for TMac, and ship off half the team with him. I would start Brooks. Yes, throw him to the wolves. Let's find out if he has any "Paul" in him. You can either "blow up" this team or watch them die an agonizing, slow, and painful death. Who would I bring in? Who wants to come? Would Marion, Arenas, Redd? I don't know, but do you really believe in your heart of hearts that this mess is really going to get all better? Me neither. And, oh I forgot, I would fire Adelman tonight. And you know what, I might trade Yao too if the offer was good enough. Yes, I am pretty fed up with this whole organization.
u hear about trades for a few days. rarely do they happen over night. And I mean rarely. unless it's like sending novak for cash. I'm talking meaningful trades.
