    What should rockets do now?

I consider "rebuild" as demolishing our core foundation, through trading Yao or T-mac or both, and then re-constructing the team. Any coaching staffs or role players changes, I consider them as "retool".

Trading Yao is my obvious choice as his market value is well over his output. His friendly rookie contract can also be packaged with some other dead contracts (which rockets has a lot) to acquire the new proven players. With the dead contracts, I wont see much hope on "retool".

    Any thoughts?

Yao, at his best, is a glorified Rick Smits.

Retooling is my vote, which we are in the process of doing. I would likel to see how the team for the next few games with Wesley/Berry, etc.

I really hope the message sinks into the players soon that if they continue to play like crap every other any one of them (save Yao or T-mac) could be gone.

I praised him. Hey, Smits had plenty of good games. Yao's better than Smits, ok? But he's not someone you can count on when needed.

I think we should try to do this trade with Magic .

    Yao+Mo for Hill+Howard

Hill (when healthy) is an all-star. A very smart player.
Howard is younger and tougher than Yao. He is also a better rebounder. That kid has a lot of potential.

Plus, Rockets can get the chance to get rid of Mo.

Plus, JVG can build a team without ANY player from Rudy era.

Plus, Yao and Mo can join their old buddies SF3, Cat and Cato.

Plus, Yao has to fight Shaq, who just lives cross the street, many many times in the regular and playoff season. That would be fun.

    I am serious here.

With a idiotic coach sitting him on the bench for almost half of the game, how you expect him to take over?

heck, I'm glad this poll has a "I don't care" option, cause that's exactly how I feel right now, the Rockets I loved has been long gone, go ahead trade away Yao and T-Mac, I would not give a flying f*** if they continue to play this kind of basketball.

I think uhh we of course had a right idea getting two very good players..top 5 elite T-Mac and Yao Ming, 7-6 and gonna be most dominant center...and both young..
    Tmac is good.
Yao needs to be more aggressive.
He needs to get more respect from referees. Refs make some horrible calls or maybe it's just home court advantage for other teams but it's pretty bad officiating.
We got guys that used to be good...

Reece Gaines is quick and plays good defense. We need 3 young guys with Yao and Tmac to do that. But Gaines can't shoot. We need young guys who are athletic and can play defense and can also shoot (make open shots) and drive and whatever. We need tos omehow get those..one by one or whatever.

We have to make our open shots. Our offense should be really good with Tmac and Yao..who can be unstoppable..but thing is the other 3 guys aren't making their pretty wide open shots. And rebounding..

Sura is good..tough..and he can score if he tries to..but he can't shoot. Hopefully he can improve that..well he really needs to.
We need to have a young guy who can play like Charlie Ward..(Damon Jones)..make the 3 and bring the ball up the court and play good defense like Eric Snow or whoever..

At the 3..Posey would be nice. Bruce Bowen..Ron Artest..guys at that level..MARION :D A backup like Nachbar or Ryan Bowen or Scott Padgett is fine..or JJ..

Power forward. We need to get that guy like Okafor or Howard or Stoudemire..a taller Fizer..Kurt Thomas would be good but he's old and I don't think they are looking to trade him..and we don't have anything to give anyways. He's old though. Magloire (sp?) would be good..a younger PJ Brown would be better. Eddie Griffin would have been decent as well splitting time with a veteran guy like a decent young Charles Oakley.

We just need guys who can play defense and have good bball iq and who can knock down open shots...and team chemistry..rebounding.

    So I would retool.

You have got to be kidding me.

Stay the course, this too shall pass and the Yao and T-Mac combo will work out in the long run. This is a team in a state of transition trying to retool on the fly.

The team could still have a run and make the playoffs.

If they don't JVG is gone and a new coach will be coming in.

I hate the JVG style but I have to support the rockets and that means not wishing Yao would be traded to the Magic so he can be with his buddies.

Wow, I am all for the family reunion! Magic still have to acquire JJ though, he is my favorite. Then I become a Magic fan instantly. No, I am still Rox fan because true Rox players are playing for Magic right now.

    Somehow get..

Dan Gadzuric, Loren Woods, Nazr Mohammed, Troy Murphy, Raef Lafrentz, Kurt Thomas, or Lorenzen Wright or Stromile Swift..PJ Brown..Jerome Williams nah..These are all guys who are in top 50 of rebounds per 48 minutes this season.

Maybe somehow get Jalen Rose (23 pp48min)..Desmond Mason? Larry Hughes.

Tyson Chandler or Eddy Curry would be nice. They are both young.

Steve Smith would have been nice if he was 10 years younger. :)

Getting Fred Jones would be nice but I don't think we can get him.

Raef Lafrentz is #17 in efficiency per 48 minutes while Nazr Mohammed is at 20 and Steve is at 21. Yao is at 12. I'd like to get Raef or Nazr at power forward here. Tyson Chandler is at #27..it'd be nice if we could somehow get Chandler. Larry Hughes is #30.

Maybe we can somehow get Jeff McInnis. I'm surprised that he's #12 in 3 point % this season but he's good. He's pretty old but he's playing the best he's ever played in his career. Most minutes too.

We really do need to retool. Get some younger versions of what we have now..:/ Keep Tmac and Yao.

I would be more attached to that Magic squad too. I have a hard time to recognize the current Rockets squad except for Yao.

The funny thing is normally retool is much quicker than rebuild, but somehow if rockets trade away Yao and dead contracts and get 1 all star and 1 or 2 good young role players, the rebuilding process would be much quicker. With the way the team's playing now, we absolutely need better role players. If we want to contend the title through adding good role players, u have to wait 2-3 years for the dead contracts to expire. The scary thing is if the management is impatient, they probably would bring in more deadlier contracts for quick fix. Then the whole franchise is doomed.

You can't blame management to be impatient of the losing. Yao's contract extension negotiation will start before next season. If Yao doesn't want to play with this loosing team, Rockets will be doomed.

    You are way off here.

    Atleast Smits could rebound. :(

This move was at most a lateral move which destroyed the morale of the team. We were not trading for anyone worth a damn.

Oh Wow, so one bad game and people can just act like Yao is not rebounding 9 boards per games anymore. What's Rik's number during his best rebounding year? 7.70 boards per game? Check your stats before making stupid comments.

Yao's been getting 10+ boards past like at least 6 games...leading our team in rebounding.

Tonight..the other team wasn't missing..and well I really didn't watch it..we just missed all of our open shots..and refs weren't that great.

We need to retool..and I wouldn't mind a coaching change.
