The only reason I can think that people will hate on Kobe is jealousy. Any true basketball fan has respect for Kobe Bryant and what he has accomplished in so little time. The man is 23 (or around there) years old and already has three rings. But I do not think he's better than McGrady- McGrady is a better passer, rebounder, shooter and maybe scorer. But Kobe's no slouch; however, McGrady is the better player.

I have seen both play countless times and there is no way mcgrady is a better shooter or scorer than kobe. The reason you don't think kobes as good as mcgrady is b/c shaq takes many of his shots and he doesn't have the chance to prove himself. The thing that separates kobe from mcgrady is his D. Unlike mcgrady, kobe doesn't take plays off.

The truth is that Shaq does make Kobe look better, there's no denying that. Kobe doesn't do anything himself because he's simply the beneficiary of having the league's most dominant player as the team's first option.

McGrady has done more (i.e. better stats, better ability) without Shaq around and until Kobe does not have Shaq to fall back on to settle the question one way or the other, the questions will remain.

The Lakers only win 56% of their games in which Kobe plays but Shaq doesn't. That translates to 46 wins. The Rockets won 45 one year and failed to make the playoffs.

By looking at the career numbers, Kobe and T-Mac even out in shooting (.458 to .452) although T-Mac is a better 3-ball shooter (.342 to .314). And scoring, Kobe is only averaging two points more (19.8 to 17.8). So they're pretty much even.

But, it does make a difference that Kobe has Shaq. Think about it this way: if Kobe wasn't on LA, they'd still make the playoffs; if
T-Mac wasn't in Orlando, they wouldn't make the playoffs. Shaq is the reason that LA has won the championships- yes, Kobe is a huge part, but Shaq is why they've won. Just like how Tracy McGrady is the sole reason why Orlando has made the playoffs the past few years.

Well, you have to consider that the Lakers are built around Kobe AND Shaq. If the Lakers decided to build around Kobe, the roster would be much different than it is. Because of that, you can't just use stats from when Shaq was out. Fact is the Lakers were built around Shaq and Kobe.

Also, 56% is damn good for Kobe by himself, considering the lack of talent around him (without Shaq), and that they are in the West.

Orl is a 45 win team in the East with T-Mac. If they were in the West, do they win 35?

If T-Mac and Orl were in the West, they wouldn't make the playoffs.

kr8 - How come Horry, Fox and Fisher all had talent when we disagreed how good of a defender each of them was without Shaq in the game? :p

kobe. has an ego. and you can see it. you can see it on his ugly mug after he makes a shot. you see it more on him, in the way he talks, and in his manerisms, more than any other nba player. if he acted the least bit humble, i wouldnt hate him. but he doesnt, you can tell he thinks hes the greatest thing since....
so i hate him, and everyone else ive talked to, who hates him, gives the same response. you dont need to blow on your fingers and look at the camera when you make a shot and get fouled in the playoffs, just go to the line and make your throw, and go sit down during the timeout. be humble. jealousy? im not jealous of jordan, magic, olajuwon, anyone....im happy for those bastards.
i saw kobe bryant at the mall, the galleria, before i hated him. they were in town to play the rockets.
i didnt say anything to him.i shouldve.

I just don't like Kobe (ego, MJ jocking, etc.). He's a good player but so is TMac. I think they're very comparable to eachother and now way is Kobe superior to McGrady. I've got a law class in 10 mins. so I can't look up any numbers but TMac is just as good a scorer and he's good a playmaking and making all those scrubs around him look better than they are. And its not a point of mine that TMac is better than Kobe or that I'd take him over Kobe. I just believe that switch them and TMac would be getting all the love Kobe's getting. Kidrock8, your name would be kidrock15 if McGrady were a laker and bryant8, you'd be mcgrady15. They are both great players but combine them w/ Shaq and I think they are interchangeable.

Well if tmac was a better player then kobe he would be ranked higher then kobe right?Stats dont define a player thats why tmac is not higher then kobe on any of these lists.Coaches, analysists and gms do know more then the fans.

Your opionion though. But kobe being better then tmac is more of a fact then an opinion.

Tracy McGrady: 1.23 spg 1.36 bpg

Kobe Bryant: 1.29 spg .61 bpg

Oh yeah.. Bryant averages more turnovers a game too...

They are very similiar in every category...
Couple things Kobe will never have that McGrady has... Longer wingspan and bigger hand.
Have you guys noticed that Kobe can't palm the ball in traffic?

Well, we know that Kobe is clutch. What do we know about T-Mac in clutch time (the playoffs)? All I know is that he talked big and got beat down by Baron Davis.

Skill wise i think kobe is ahead of t-mac. He has better handle, i will concede that t-mac can rebound more but that is because of his size. And kobe is a better scorer. In the games that i saw t-mac play he rely`s on his fakes ,screens and first step to get by his defender while kobe can take his defender with his dribble. btw. i like them both but i feel that kobe is being underrated when he is compared to t-mac who is taller and with longer wing span.
