it seems like the rockets really need defenseman right now, someone who can play defense all day. i thought Barry could be that guy but he's too old to chase the faster SG's. why exactly is our defense so bad? i think it's because T-mac plays no defense and our PG's are undersized. we're missing Battier really bad right now.
Through 6 games, the Rockets are 5th in defensive efficiency, and 16th in offensive efficiency. But I would say our schedule thus far has been relatively easy. Morey said before the season we wanted us to be a top 2 or 3 defense, and a top 10 offense. I would attribute the early slip in defense to: - McGrady - Not have Battier, probably our best team defender - Outside of Chuck, having poor defenders coming off the bench (Brooks, Barry, Landry) - Defensive rebounding isn't as solid as in years past
I agree with all those points, and I want to add I am loving the links in your sig. Thanks! Oh and I also want to add, if we can get Landry to do better on help defense when Yao is on the court, I would love that. Last night I don't know how many times I was yelling for him to help over into the middle faster. Or even help on the screens and then recover. His offensive efficiency is out the roof, defensively, not so much.
Tmac is a well-known cancer in defense. But we had him last year when we still played good defense, why? We now have Ron replacing Battier, and he was considered one of the best defensive player. I just can't understand why.
Are you serious? People said Yao got no rebound and T-Mac played no defense. How can we still be 5th in defensive efficiency? Maybe it is all becase of Ron and Chuck
Team Chemistry. Less minutes for Alston, who is a better one on one and team defender than Brooks. No Battier. T-Mac's knee.
Actually he didn't say that at all. Tmac normally isn't a problem on defense, he is still favoring that leg and hasn't gotten all his lateral quickness back.
Teams are only shooting 22% from the three-point line against us, and we're not giving up as many points at the free throw line as we used to. Is that due to really good defense, or teams just not making shots or being aggressive in drawing fouls? Again, the Rockets have had a fairly easy schedule through the first 6 games. It's about to get much harder. But OKC, Memphis, and Clippers are just bad teams. Dallas and Portland are ok, they'll be battling for one of the last playoff spots. Boston is the only really good team we've faced. My feeling is that if we play defense the way we have through these 6 games, our Defensive Efficiency could drop out of the top 10. Right now, I'd say we're playing at the level of a 46-48 win team. We have a lot to improve on.
Dude too serious. I also think we haven't big problem on defense. I just want to make fun of this guy. see the link http://bbs.clutchfans.net/showthread.php?t=157139
yao just cant def any1 who could shot teh mid-range shot, and nowadays even perkins can make teh shots, thats teh reason gg.
Players are different. Yao is a recognized allstar center. That says something. If he has problem defending mid-range shooters, then the whole team need to help him.
i tell u wut, teh team cant help with that unless put him on teh bench. shaq also sux on def P&R, but on offence, he can destroy everythin. but yao just cant do teh same, hes offence only good against certain matchups and his fade away shots are inconsistent while his def can kill us in every single game. thats why i say hes overrated and just a borderline all star lvl center w/o chinese background.
Its a common typo. Not like he used numbers for letters or any bad misspellings like ur or 2b for to be.
Simple. Battier gets everyone to run back on D, barks orders at the team like a linebacker, knows the other team's entire playbook, and plays smart one-on-one preventive D. Ron is more of an individual defender, gambles a lot more, which can give up layups at times. With that said, when Battier gets back, they'll be a great complement to each other depending on what is needed.
Mutombo is out. Yao is either injured or still recovering. McGrady is injured, and our best team defender and captain is out, in Battier. Get a good backup center to cover up our midget front court. Have a healthy Battier to anchor our defense and communicate with everyone. Hope Yao recovers or gets his conditioning back. Hope McGrady is healthy, and you won't have so many slow players with no communication on transition defense.
