... Kareem Rush! In a tight low scoring game 6points on a 2-3 three point shooting is a huge difference. This is the guy I wanted all along, as people who were here for the 2002 draft might remember (although I wouldn't mind Tayshawn Prince, either). Instead we are stuck with the useless Snackbar... I won't post any more negative posts until the offseason, but it was just too much for me yesterday, first watching Richard Jeffereson dominate the Knicks and then Kareem stick these two long daggers... Steve, Cat, Yao, JVG are working their butts off, I only have praise for the team. It's just that owners and management really, really, really suck....
Kareem Rush = Tyrone Lue Hell, Horace Grant would have hit those shots. Lakers have a "Yankee-esque" thing about them. Better yet. Kareem Rush = Aaron Boone.
I'm with Kayman on this one. I wanted Kareem as a backup to Mobley, I think he would have fit in well. He'd probably earn more minutes than Boki as well.
I'm not with anyone calling CD a moron, or anyone else I can think of, either. What is moronic is calling someone else a moron!
Good God! Kareem Rush is an okay bench player, but he was not the difference maker. All those UNFORCED turnovers were.
Kareem Rush is a good shooter but we were looking for a SF not a SG. He is better than Nachbar. Prince has done really well for the Pistons and would have been a good fit for us but nobody can anticipate how mid round performers will do when they are selected.
I am still just dumbfounded that you guys honestly think CD is some all-powerful GM sitting on high and making decisions in a vacuum. EVERY decision he makes regarding players is done with the consent and blessing of, at the very least, the coaching staff, however, he almost always also has the input of scouts, player personnel (i.e. Dennis Lindsey, Keith Jones, etc) and, most importantly, Les Alexander. CD's primary responsibility is making deals happen and listening to offers. He is not the guy who makes the decisions or is responsible for coming up with all the ideas. So, if you want to blame the team for poor personnel decisions, blame CD, Rudy, Les, JVG, the entire coaching staff, the scouts and the player personnel staff.
Good point. Might as well blame the entire Rockets organization....and if you know what? If you hate it. GO TO ANOTHER TEAM and whine.... (not directed towards Jeff)
Regardless of who's decision it was, it was a bad one. None of the other lottery teams that year were talking about him. I was pretty worried that we were the only team expressing serious interest in Boki. Now we know why. I also remember the Lakers drafting Kareem and thinking that would probably bite us in the ass sooner than later. He might not have been the difference maker yesterday, but he's going to be around this league a lot longer than Boki will.
IMHO, Boki is better than either Prince or Rush. He just did not have the same support these guys have on their respective teams. Boki needs play time and some more experience to fully realize his potential. In the long run, I see Boki have better career than Prince or Rush.
Longhorn fans knew that Kareem Rush was a proven commodity coming into the league. It's no surprise to us that he's doing well, since we've seen him score in bunches before at Mizzou. However, Nachbar was a star for his European team. Everyone on this site was pimping him based on his NBAdraft.net profile, kinda like we did with EG the year before. In hindsight, the only smart pick we've made (other than Yao) was Kenny Thomas in '99. Other than that anomaly, we've been subject to juggernauts like Rodrick Rhodes, Jason Collier, Dan Langhi, Eddie Griffin, etc.
Sorry, Jeff, you make no sense whatsoever. CD and Les, as GM and owner, bear all the responsibility for personnel decisions. It's like saying "Bush is not responsible for the war in Iraq, because he doesn't make decisions in a vacuum, he has the input of his advisors and cabinet memebrs, (wofovitz, Rumsfield etc...)"
I remember Jordan and a few other guys saying that they wanted Boki to. So that part is a bit moronic.
