My girlfriend and I were coming home into a gated neighborhood to find there was a car parked infront of the gates, and the passenger (driver was still in the car) got out, and climbed the Exit fence to activate the motion-detected steel-barred doors to drive through. I drive through the entrance and do a U turn to block them, they swerve around me and enter in the "entrance" lane, I speed through the exit lane to catch them, I turn right to attempt to block them again, but they turn left. I go around the neighborhood in a circle to meet up with them on the opposite side of the neighborhood, I think he sees me sitting there but he pulls out infront of me anyway, and I shine my brights to get his license plate #. The guard leaves at 12:00am, 10 minutes before i encountered this weirdo. If anything happens in the neighborhood tonight we'll feel bad for not doing more.
How about not risking your life next time, and simply call the police???? You live in Houston -> not exactly the safest place.
Sorry LooneyToon we all know your car is incapable of speeding. _______________________________ Seriously you should file a police report ~ now.
Look at the bright side of things though... If something does happen tonight, you have a description of the car, and a possible description of the passenger, and an approximate time of sighting in the neighborhood. That's more help than a lot of people can give in suspicious situations.
That dude could have been packin' heat! Not only did you put yourself but you put girl in danger too..that man could have left you both dead and stole your car..err..wait..he probably wouldn't take your lemon car
you should have rammed him with your car. i mean, come on, it's not like it would have devalued the vehicle.
Gated community and neither of you had a cell phone or something? You should have called the police, it sounds like they would have made an effort to get to that neighborhood.
exactly. What would you have done if he came out blasting?!?!?!?!?! Next time .. catch the description and the license plate ALSO not to scare you . . but while u was getting his description and license plate. . . he could have been getting yours some folx are sick and in this situation you made yourself noticable. Rocket RIver
Damn, I should have checked this place before going to bed. KC and Kaiser have already said what I wanted to say.
LT man... you get no love. I for on think you did some skillful maneuvering according to your description. however i too would have just called the cops like the rest of the lameasses in this thread. although -- check out this scenario: maybe it's a guy that has a defective door open thingie and had to get back to his house. and this morning he went to some other bbs as posted: "dude i was stalked by this guy, and like i swerved to avoid him but he kept following me, creepy." you did the right thing though. good samaritan.
That was probably the stupidest thing you could've done, Looney. Just call the cops next time. Now they know what you drive and where you live in case they want to .... umm... exact revenge.
I had a strange encounter last night too. I was visiting a friend's house and he lived in a gated community. He told me to just climb the fence and activate it if I got in after midnight when the security guard left. When I did that, this crazy man kept trying to block my car. Then he shined his beams at me. Hey wait a minute... Ok sorry for the lame joke. Looney it doesn't really sound like you did anything wrong by trying to stop someone when they did that. As long as you had a cell phone with you and ready to call the police it doesn't sound you did anything too dangerous. I doubt most people are going to jump out and start shooting unless they are threatened. Doing what you did, but being ready to call sounds reasonable. And I think you did a good job getting the plates, and make and model of the car.
Good for you for trying to help, but at the same time, you shouldn't endanger yourself or a loved one to be a hero...CALL THE POLICE, this is what they do... Next time, just get the description and license plate number like meggolego said...
I see now where you get your name. I guess you got lucky in that these other people weren't gun-wielding psychos. I mean...if they were up to no good like you think they were...then they probably were not unarmed. You did everything you could asking to be shot if they were up to no good. Given today's times, this could have very well ended up in tragedy on your side of the issue. Quit trying to play the cop and call the cop...is my opinion. If you like to gamble with you and your girl's lives, then please continue trying to be the interceptor of the world.
Spiderman decided not to act, and it got his uncle killed, I say bring some justice. Just remember. With great power comes great responsibility.
