You know, as much as I want the Rox to win it all and do something amazing, reality does check in. Lets put it this way, We aren't scaring anyone. When teams say they don't want to play the Celtics or the Lakers or the Spurs, its because of fear. Our team may be good, and yeah we can go on another 20 game win streak. However, when we get to that other Animal which is the NBA Playoffs, we are going to be the ones that teams WANT to face. If you just see the example which is last year, Yao goes down, we are counted out, we prove the naysayers wrong by winning 22 games in a row. Yet, we reach the playoffs and teams look at us as vulnerable with weaknesses. Every team steps their **** up in the playoffs. Its put up or shut up time, and believe me when they face us, they KNOW they have the upper hand. Why is that? That one despicable word in the dictionary, Injuries. We have been favored once to win, because we were fully healthy and we just came a TINY bit short. Trust me, when you say that we don't need McGrady, truth is we need him healthy and with us in the playoffs. He is the guy who can draw double teams etc... Von Wafer is good no doubt, but you see that teams haven't seen much of him and they are unsure of his style of play. When April looms and we are in the playoffs, he will be scouted and the other teams will know what to do. I Hope and Believe that we win it all, who doesn't? But reality says otherwise.... When April arrives, we will have butterflies and itchy feet. You can sense the Fear. I do...
That's fine. Honestly, I'm just enjoying the new style and watching how the young guys like Brooks, Lowry, and Wafer are going to develop on the team. I'm not even thinking about the playoffs and getting out of the first round.
It's fine...believe in the Rockets. It's defense that's going to win games. The team will do better this year.
Even without Yao Ming, the Jazz series last year is very different with Rafer playing all 6 games. Not saying you are wrong, but dont bring up last year because we had our starting wings hobbled a bit, and our starting PG missed 2 starts and left game 6 right before half when the game was very close. Given all that, we took everything Utah could dish out, and aside from one lopsided half, played very well and still had chances to pull it out.
yeah i don't care if we don't scare people. go home what that junk. if you want that go move to la, sa or boston. underdogs are my kind of team
Rockets lost many easy games this year... and still manager to be the fifth seed in the west. Only 3 or 4 games from the Spurs(2nd seed) So I should rephrase your words to ::: "We are fearless." Neither Boston nor LA. What you fear for? We should all be happy that we have a new Rockets that every player tried their best. And it's all you need.
Von Wafer is good no doubt, but you see that teams haven't seen much of him and they are unsure of his style of play. When April looms and we are in the playoffs, he will be scouted lol scouted? People were saying this few months ago and yet wafer still does same thing... hmmm
our team is better than the ones of past. The reason i say that is bc eventhough we did have Mclazy healthy, he is just not a winner. There are players that when the time comes they fight and win, and others that buckle under some kind of psychological pressure. Mcgrady was not meant to win bc of his attitude towards the game. ON our current team we have players that are more capable of winning. Artest, Scola, Brooks, Landry are winners.
Playoffs my friend playoffs. Teams and players don't let the tiniest, microscopic things slip away. You'll see.
You know I can't agree with you more. I'm a Rockets fan first and individual player's fan on our team second. There is definitely excitement in Houston with both T-mac & Rafer out but will it transpire into playoff success? I don't know but I do know that eventhough T-mac is 0-7 in the playoffs, he does step up everytime and it isn't his fault his teammates don't come with him to the party. As evident, year after year after year. Yao is obviously not Dream but he doesn't step it up since his numbers stay constant as his regular season averages. I'm not trying to rip him, but the great ones leave their mark on the game by picking it up especially in the Playoffs. Last season without Rafer, the team was clueless on what to do against the Jazz albeit they won 2 games in that series. As much as I want the Rockets to do well, it's just going to be tough because too many bandwagoners who have ripped Rafer (poor shooting) & T-Mac (knee) will come after AB when we lose/he does something wrong (ie...that thread about how he got blocked vs. Dallas). We are much more talented with a HEALTHY unit than year's past and I truly believe we can hang with the best of them (when healthy) and be able to win out. Other teams have that premier scorer/go to guy: Kobe, Manu, Carmelo, Roy, Nowitzki, D. Williams, Lebron, Pierce, J. Johnson, Wade, Hamilton, etc. I want this team to do well, never fail, but for us to have success, you can't fear teams like the Lakers, Spurs, Celtics, or Cavs (ie...that poll thread indicating we should play Portland 1st in round). If you want to win, you can't be scared/fear anyone. Go Rockets!!!
Let them "want" to face us - overconfidence is always to be used against you. Secondly, the Playoffs are a different enough animal that you shouldn't be busting out your crystal ball in February. Come back to me in April and we'll talk.
