EDIT: No, it looks to me like the second poll is not Paul vs. Dirk but Paul vs. Gasol.

Nothing suprising there. I would choose Dirk, too. Here are the things Dirk has done "better" than T-Mac over the last two years. Higher scoring average, higher rebounding average, higher shooting percentages (2's, 3's and FTs), more blocks, fewer turnovers, more wins, more playoff appearances, more games played. Granted, a lot of things go into all of this, but Dirk would be my choice, too

    Well, that's r****ded!

Don take this too seriously, in one where it was Balkman v. Iverson, Balkman got like 50 percent. Ppl there just choose who realgm expects them not to choose. Another one was Billups and LeBron and Billups won like 80 percent..

I'd personally have McGrady over Dirk.. :D

i am pretty sure the 74% that voted for Dirk remembered what they saw from him during last year's playoffs when he went bananas (until the Finals that is) and remembered what they saw from McGrady when he was sitting on the bench in street clothes.

C'mon guys, as much as I support McGrady, it's hard to saw you wouldn't want a 7 ft PF who can kill you at the perimeter, down low, at the free throw line, and who also isn't as injury prone.

Now if it was Dirk v. Yao, it's a no brainer that Yao would win.

I think I would build my team around Rybo and Jhow and then ship that franchise to San Antonio :D :D :D

Better supporting cast, doesn't get others involved, fades away in 4th quarter, misses clutch free throws, gets owned by Ryan Bowen, flops like a queer, sticks his tongue out for no damn reason, does the Derek Jeter fist celebration, doesn't play a lick of defense. I could go on and on about why I would choose Tmac over Dirk. Granted, Tmac hasn't been healthy even still I would choose Tmac because if he can come back healthy he can be a championship player unlike Dirk who faded away in the finals. I hate when people say Tmac hasn't made it pass the first round. No, his team has not made it pass the first round and Tmac has done everything he can to try and get past the first round but has not had the talent around him. Dirk on the other hand has had Finley, Nash, Jason Terry(plays out of his mind in the playoffs), Josh Howard, Stackhouse, etc. to pick up the slack when Ryan Bowen or Haslem are making him go 5-18.

BTW, a lot of my comments are in good fun. I think Dirk is a great player but I consider him even with Tmac for what both players can provide for their team. They are two different players that can change the game at any given time. I can't wait to see the matchup next year.

I don't remember T-Mac ever fading away. However, I do remember a non-existant Dirk Nowitzki.

We must've been watching different playoff series. I remember the T-Mac that put up 31/7/7, a lockdown performance on Dirk and cowboy ride, ultimately leading to the retirement, of/on Shawn Bradley.

    What were you watching?

I'm watching Tmac singlehandedly winning games 1 & 2, like you mentioned above, then a clearly tired McGrady shorting 3 pointer after 3 pointer in Game 7....unless you're telling me that 1-7 was a command performance. He also looked pretty lousy in game 5, though he was excellent in game 6. However, over the second half of the series, cumulatively, it just wasn't the same McGrady we saw earlier in the series overall - if it was we win the thing.

When you go from strong to weak - that's pretty much the definition of fading. I'm not saying that he's at fault, but let's be clear, he wasn't Dwayne Wade when it counted at the end, was he?

Quite honestly I don't know how you can put McGrady's post season record up to anybody and say he compares favorably. Yeah he played well, but he's never played well enough to get out fo the first round. There's only so much you can say about that. I mean hell, Steve Francis has the same postseason performance, and he hasn't done jack since.

I'm watching the version that is as of September 2006, not the one that is from early May 2005 - a lot has happened since then in case you didn't know it, including Dirk taking his game to another level, and Tmac spinning his wheels, if not in reverse.

Real GM picking the mavs to win the title in '07 and "giving McGrady and Yao one last chance after failing miserably to be the next great duo.....and if they fail again he (tmac)will be traded"

Pray for Rox health all of you because I want the Roxs to own Dallas and SA and beat the east and win a title

Dog you can talk all you want about Tmacs inability to close out the series but the main difference from the wins and the losses was the play of his supporting cast. Would you say that Tmac was more inconsistant than Yao?

See at first I thought you were putting up decent points but then you came out with :

    Steve Francis playoff numbers:
    19.2Ppg on adj. fg% of .479, 8.4Reb, 7.6Assist, 4.2t.o 1.47Stl, .2Blks in 5 Games

    Tracy McGrady Playoff Performance
30.7Ppg on .506%, 7.4Reb, 6.7Ast, 3.7T.o., 1.43Blk, 1.57Stl, he stepped up on the defensive end to slow down whoever needed to be stopped. Whether it be Dirk or Stackhouse.

Dont ever compare Francis to Tmac

LOL, trust me Francis sucks ass compared to McGrady, I'm just saying that he and T-mac have been to the same place as far as playoffs go.
