Interestingly enough, Rafer is ranked 18th, Bobby Jackson 45th and Luther Head is the 49th ranked player. The last number the RV value is interesting because it shows how much their worth is according to how much they are paid. Monta Ellis is an unrestricted free agent but will command a large pay increase. Which means Kelenna Azubuike is expendable. With Rafer at 18th, it means that upgrading Rafer will not be easy. Calderon and Ellis come to mind. Daniel Gibson, and Sam Cassell are relatively good values but are lower ranked than Alston and only Cassell is an unrestricted Free Agent. If we had a lot of money, I'd say go after a Calderon, Ellis or Miller but we don't and Calderon and Ellis are restricted free agents. Miller would require a trade. Chris Duhon from the Bulls is a possibility as an unrestricted free agent and so is Carols Arroyo. Navarro would be nice to get but is a restricted free agent. All I have to say is Morey has his work cut out for him. Lot of possibilties here. http://www.realgm.com/src_playerrankings.php?filter=pg
I guess by these standards, Rafer is average among starting guards? So we're not off as bad as some people think.
I've always thought watson was a good player. He's tough as nails, a good defender and has a reasonable contract.
Because he plays point guard for the Trail Blazers. They play a big line up with Roym at the 1 and Martell Webster or Sergio Rodriguez at the 2.
umm no, are you joking me? Hes 6-6 and plays SG and the PG for Blazers are Blake and Jarret Jack. And Sergio is 6-3, they wouldnt play him at SG when they have James Jones backing up roy
No they don't. Steve Blake is a starter. Roy plays the 2 and Webster plays the 3. Blake's started for 78 games and gets almost 30mpg. Jack is the primary backup and plays 27mpg. Rodriguez plays garbage time. I watch portland games, and the only reason why Roy might be considered a PG is because he sets up all the plays in the half-court. He's a very good passer. But if that's the criteria, then I guess Tmac's a PG too and Rafer shouldn't be on the list. It's just a strange entry.
I would go after ellis hard. Golden State would most likely match any offers, but he would be a great fit for the rockets offense. He's like an efficient unselfish version of allen iverson.
Its not that he actually plays in the PG position. He plays much of the PG role like Tmac does. He makes most of the plays on offense, especially when Jack is in because he's more of a scorer.
He does play the point from time to time. He slides over to the point when they go with a big lineup, just like you said.
One day you'll figure out that a lot of people on this board only watch the rox. The rox are my favorite sports team, but I try to be a student and watch everyone. I was going to correct the poster, but u beat me 2 it. Roy is not the pg, but he makes all the calls seem like.
This 'table' is giving me headaches. The last column, the RV, can't be right. According to that every point guard is underpaid which is ridiculous (is Bibby really the only one with a negative RV?). Looks like Paul and Deron are the best point guards now, just like the polls in Dish indicated.
Honestly, I probably shouldn't have spoken up on Roy in the first place. I haven't been able to watch nearly as much basketball this year and so I haven't seen much of the Trail Blazers this season. I watched maybe 20 of their games last season and I remember being impressed with his ball handling and passing, but I'm not sure that I'd be comfortable saying he's a better passer than Steve Blake. I do remember thinking he was a better passer than Jarrett Jack.
