The Nets have found their replacement for Brian Scalabrine and filled the spot that Robert "Tractor" Traylor was expected to have.

Veteran forward Scott Padgett has agreed to terms on a multiyear deal with New Jersey, pending a physical examination that he will take next week, Nets president Rod Thorn said Saturday.

The 6-foot-9 Padgett, who has averaged 4.6 points in 355 games for the Jazz and Rockets, will get the $1.6 million the Nets had remaining on their midlevel exception. That was originally supposed to go to Traylor, but he failed his physical and the Nets voided their deal with him last week.

With Padgett, the Nets would have 13 players under contract. They are expected to add one more, and it could be Lamond Murray.

Padgett just failed his physical. He had a bad tooth. In related news, tractor Traylor failed his physical because his nails were cut too short increasing the chances of a possible nail infection.

You're right, it was stated that he was basically a Phoenix Sun. And then a few weeks later (last week), it was stated that he was losing interest in signing with the Suns but that Phoenix felt he would sign with them anyway. Guess they were wrong.

You have been duped by the ever-threatening "agreement in principle..."

Good for the Nets. Padgett is better than Tractor "Fats" anyway. He should get plenty of wide open 3s on that team, especially with Jason Kidd running the show.

Not until the NBA Finals.....uhhh, well....nevermind. I believe the Nets are going to be good enough to compete for a 6 or 7 spot in the playoffs, but they are destined for mediocrity. Poor Scotty Padgett.
