The ACLU is getting “multiple reports” that federal customs agents are siding with President Trump — and willfully ignoring a Brooklyn federal judge’s demand that travelers from seven Muslim countries not be deported from the nation’s airports.

“The court’s order could not be clearer… they need to comply with the order,” Omar Jadwat, director of the ACLU’s Immigrants Rights project, told The Post late Saturday.

“It’s enough to be a serious concern,” Jadwat said of the reports.

Jadwat and other ACLU lawyers had earlier Saturday night won an emergency stay of Trump’s deportation order from Brooklyn Federal Judge Ann Donnelly.

My head explodes that republicans have the audacity to say "if true" to every story now.

    The arrogance is amazing.

This whole "fake news" nonsense is so damn stupid but honestly awe inspiring. What a wonderfully amazing way to completely stifle any discussion and shun self-awareness. Oh something I agree with is in a bad light? Let me put my fingers in my ears and cast it aside as "fake news."

    It is truly impressive.

What is awe inspiring is that nobody trusts journalists anymore. There used to be a time when journalist would actually investigate instead of saying "multiple sources". This has nothing to do with the left or right, but journalism in general.

There's a difference between ignorant idiots and everyone else. Just because you don't can't differentiate between actual news and fake stuff that sounds good doesn't mean everyone else is quite as stupid. Journalism exists as it always has, with good stuff and bad stuff. It's up to the reader to be smart enough to differentiate.

Read Dept of Homeland Security response to judge:

    https://www.dhs.gov/news/2017/01/29/department-homeland-security-response-recent-litigation

The admin will not clarify on purpose to give them power to continue the executive order under the guise of security. Ignoring while not ignoring. It's can be a case by case clusterfk until the fight is over. Given Trump history of defiance of Courts orders, completely expected.

Custom agents follow orders from their department supervisors, not a judge. It's the department supervisors that are not complying and that are responsible, not the agents. Channel your hate and anger appropriately.

I don't know if going with the "just following orders" excuse is the best play here.

Not a play, it's the truth. Try to put yourselves in their position. Don't be so damn dramatic either. They're not gassing people, they're blocking people. They will do what they are told period.

I know I am required to go through ethics and compliance training and I know if my supervisor directed me to do something that was illegal I would be held responsible. I would also be held responsible for going above my supervisor if directed by the supervisor to do something illegal.

Amid the chaos know what is legal and illegal on the ground is very difficult. Again, that's why I put responsibility department supervisors. More than likely agents are not even aware of a judge and his orders and that's a fair defense.

ipaman, I know you are working overtime as Devil's Advocate recently, and I agree that the supervisors are more responsible, but if you were an agent working at the airport, and you were ordered to keep a couple of wheelchair bound octogenarians from their medicines, what would you do?

I like to think I know what I'd do.

it's not about your or I. it's about those agents and no one ever thinks about the stress the agents are under. none of it which comes from them or things they did. they've got families, bills to pay, etc... i'm just saying, don't treat them like robots because they're not. understand that they will behave like humans and they'll do things they don't agree with because survival. again, that's some of them not us.
