My wife called to tell me that this guy at her office is willing to trade me Metal Gear Solid 3 or Resident Evil 4 for my overplayed GTA2. Anyone played either of these games on the PS2? I love both series.
i've played MGS3 and RE4, but on gamecube. you can't go wrong with either one. i prefer MGS3 though. It's a more detailed (playing wise) game with all kinds of quarks taht make you say, "damn, i didn't know i could do that." plus, the bosses are awesome.
I just got RE4 on the gamecube and I am working my way through it now.. I havent played MGS3, but I buy number 2 on x-box because I loved MGS on PS1 so much.. NUMBER 2 was really bad IMO.. RE4 is a great game I'd say best game I've played in a few years..
RE4, haven't played MG3 but RE4 is one of the best looking games I have ever played. On the gamecube at least.
Go for RE4. All of them will eventually go down to 20 bucks, but right now MGS3 is already 30bucks. And GTA2? 20 bucks tops. Both of them are supposed to be excellent. I prefer MGS more, but the smarter deal would be to go for RE.
Flip a coin? Both are very, very good games. MGS3 does have one of my favorite video game characters ever: The Boss. Very sad and very tragic. She was definately interesting and not cookie cutter.
Dude, those two are the best games in the last two years...you gotta have both of them! IF you had to only get one, just ask yourself this... IF your prefer crazy story lines with stealth gameplay, and bosses that you can kill 20 diffrent ways for each, get MGS4. If you like a ton of action all the time with some occassional puzzles thrown in, get RE4. I got the PS2 version and it looks great with the progressive scan/wide screen support. Other new "great" games that you should check out are Gods of War,Devil May Cry 3 or Shadow of the Collosus.
Not to mention that I believe it is now freeware for the PC. So an even better deal than that. As for the games to pick, I really can't give you a better answer than what's already been said. Whatever you pick, you win basically. If nothing else, CriscoKidd had a good point about the values for each game. You can get MGS 3 for $20-$30, while RE4 is a little more than that. If possible, just get RE4 now and MGS3 later at the $20-$30 price (or lower). In fact, if you want, you can wait for MGS 3: Subsistence to come out and get that instead.
The PS2 version RE4 will clock you in about 20 hours for the main story and 10 hours for the extras. There's sequential chapters with saves, so you're not pressured to play everything at once. IMO... the Greatest Game of All Time
