recently there have been some rumors going around the bbs: 1. that cato has been at a big man's camp this summer. although i have no "hard evidence", i can tell you all that he has not been to a big man camp this summer. in fact, cato is starting to sport a little bit of a gut right now. no names, no pictures, but i'll stake my rep on this "source". 2. cato has been dedicated to the weight room this summer: when told that he needed to go to the gym he replied with "**** that. i'll go to the gym when they (the organization) tell me i need to go to the gym." 3. cato is in "the clique" w/steve, cat, etc.: cato's own words were that he "got no real friends on this team. " ************************************************************************* cato needs to go, asap. as much as i'd love to have cato/ming platooning @ center with eg and motay at the pf spot, as long as he maintains this attitude, he has to go. this is a cancerous attitude.
Well my "source" is Rudy. Or was it Carrol. I don't remember exactly who, but they said he has been the hardest working this offseason. He could have been stretching the truth, or maybe no one else is working, but I doubt that.
Cato sucked last year. Cato has sucked every year he's been in the NBA. He is no longer a prospect. Hence, it seems reasonable to assume he'll suck next year as well. He has terrible hands, an awful jump shot, no post game, and has very little natural shot ability outside of his physical abilities. Who gives a crap if he has been working out? his physique has never been the problem. 10 million dollar body with a 10 cent head. Not that difficult to figure out...
He doesn't necessarily have to be working out his body. Working out could mean in the gym every day, working on post moves. If he could learn a post move or two, he could be decent.
knowing that cato is the most criticised member of that team, did you expect rudy/cd/keith jones/the waterboy to say anything other than that? everyone knows cato is ultra-sensitive...so why not say positive things to the media hoping that it will encourage him to use his natural abilities? sounds like spin to me. also, didn't rudy/cd/keith jones/larry smith/troybaros say last offseason that cato was "dedicated" and his body had undergone a transformation already? are you still spinning around from that supersized spin? any gm/coach/waterboy/internet loser will say the most positive things possible about their players (assuming those things cannot be immediately proven false). it's part of building a good image for the team and motivating your players (ahem...aka: player's coach...great organization...). nothing wrong with that. i'm just trying to spread a little truth to slow down that spin.
Riiiiight. Cato had 3 years at Iowa St. to learn these moves. And 5 years in the NBA. He's a few days away from being 28. You really think he's going to develop a post game now? I can't think of anyone else who did that late.
You could be right, like I said. But I could be right, also. I would think they would mention Cato working, not be the hardest-working. I also think Cato has a bit more to work for. Last year, I'm sure he thought he would back-up Hakeem. For a back-up, Cato is ok. I also heard nothing last year about Cato, thank you! (I didn't really care as much as I do now.) This year, Cato has a rookie who could take his job before even going to training camp. He should also be getting tired of hearing how useless he is, and may start trying to change some minds. Better late than never. I also read somewhere that Cato like to be competitive. If he thinks we can make the playoffs, he may try harder.
Cato didn't even play basketballl all his life. He developed a late growth spurt, and joined on to basketball. Also, ask anyone and they'll tell you that big-men take the longest to develop. Look at Kandi, the "second-best" center in the league. Cato also didn't have tons of playing time in Portland. Look at what O'Neal is doing now. I do agree that Cato has been lazy, and uneager to get better. But he may have decided that he cares what people think about him, and will try to change that!
Not a good comparison at all. O'Neal was younger and performed well immediately after being traded. He was always considered a hot prospect, as well... simply had trouble cracking an uber-deep rotation. Once given playing time, O'neal was productive. Cato was given playing time... and showed neither production nor improvement. In fact, Cato's first season as a Rocket was his best. Pretty sad.
what is it Verse you have evidence or you don't? You just completely switched 180 degrees when someone called you out! PLEASE STOP POSTING.....ESPECIALLY CRAP THAT IS A WASTE OF THE SERVER. You may not agree with my replies but at least I don't post stupid threads with no evidence and just regurgitated hypocritical observations. Still taste good?
I was trying to show how much pt they got there. I know O'Neal is more productive, but even he wasn't getting much pt there. So what would Cato get? Like I also said, Cato didn't care. He had a big contract, and was only a back-up after all. But after a few years, I think he should have gotten tired of the "lazy, overpaid, worthless" remarks being thrown around. He can change, you know. Maybe. Hopefully. I may be wrong about all this. Cato may show up fat, and not give a.... uhh, lets just say he won't care. But I will try to look up at things, instead of down. I also think Collier, aka the Creampuff man, will get 30 ppg this year. Your take?
I'll believe Cato has truly improved when I see it on the court this year. He is a good backup c who is way overpaid, nothing more imo. He has gotten a little better at giving quotes though, I'll give him that. He's at least saying the right things to the reporters now.
God, dave. Shut up. verse didn't change his position at all -- he clarified it. And he's been here a lot longer than you, with a good record. You've got a lot of nerve to tell him to stop posting. Or that he's wasting server space.
1 Cato is overpaid 2 The Rockets would dump Cato in a heartbeat if possible 3 Cato cannot be traded because of number one Sad but true.... Raven
all i'm saying is that those who believe cato is dedicated this summer and will come out as a focused basketball player will be sadly disappointed. he has done little to nothing this summer to improve his game. not working out, sporting the beginnings of a gut, not going to a big man camp, and not having a positive, team outlook. that is NOT someone i want on my team.
I hear many trades made by NBA experts, or the teams themselves, where Cato is apart of a trade. So someone must want him. Besides, a lot of C's are overpaid.
Well, it's hard for me to trust someone who's so severely anti-Cato, especially when there's no evidence at all. So I'm giving them about as much credit as I did all the stuff TroyBaros spewed out from his "sources".
Has Cato done some interviews I'm not aware of? Living in Austin I am out of the loop on these things.
actually, Apollo Creed, i'm not so severely anti-cato. last year, i hoped against all hope that cato would improve and tried to restrain from bashing him. the only rocket i have ever been "anti" was shandn andersn. he sucked and still does. as for cato, you don't have to believe me...it matters not. but don't be surprised the first preseason game you see him and he's even worse than last year. oh, and as for TroyBaros, i don't claim to know the future. all i'm saying is what i've said from the 1st post. an extremely trusted source who is very close to cato passed this on to me and i'm just passing on to you guys.
And how many trades have been consumated ? That's the only # that matters. During the Shaq-Kobe feud, you also saw rumored deals for each of them. I doubt that any were even being considered, in truth. The fact that Vin Baker and Shawn Kemp and that complete-loser-that-Cuban-took-with-Raef Lafrentz have been traded proves that anything's possible. But if we do unload him somehow, it'll be because we're giving up a wanted commodity (kt) or we're getting something awful in return.
