Do any of you RAZR owners have the same problem with your phone? It seems like whenever there is a phone call, incoming or outcoming, my speakers (computer, car, whatever) get freaked out and making this annoying noise. Is it just my phone that does this or all RAZRs do that?

No problems whatsoever with my RAZR in the car or anywhere else. Maybe your car is trying to change into a building?

I've had the same thing happen with every cell phone I've had. No big deal to me. The phone's gonna ring a second afterwards, anyway.

Almost all cell phones do that to computer speakers if they are held close enough. I've never heard that for car speakers.

    From a random blog:

The cause of this issue is GSM. GSM data bursts are at 217 Hz which is in the range of human hearing. Your speakers act as a kind of amplifier. You will not hear this if using a phone with CDMA rather than GSM.

To the user who believes it has caused permanent damange to his speakers, I would find this highly unlikely. I've also heard tell that the interference is actually rooted with the speaker WIRE and not the speaker itself. Several forums I've read have proposed replacing any unshielded wire with heavy gauge speaker wire, and grounding it at the PC or audio reciever.

You'll notice the interference happens just before recieving an incoming call, or when periodically (I believe about once an hour or so) when the tower 'pings' the phone to make sure its still on the network.

I also believe it might have some interference issues with 802.11 wireless, but haven't confirmed this yet. I've noticed when I have my Motorola v551 next to my laptop (which is using a NIC LinkSys wireless network adaptor) my connection cuts out once or twice a day, before automatically reconnecting. When my phone is in the other room, nothing.

God, I love the freakin' internet.

Yeah, all cell phones tend to do that. I hate when you are driving and somebody near you in another car gets a call in it makes your speakers mess up.

    De-de-de deeeeeeeee

    God, I hate that.

I used to work for a center that facilitated video conferencing through their bridges. We'd get calls every once in a while about this. When a GSM phone searches for or attempts to reconnect to the network, speakers or microphones can pick up that noise.

I hadn't noticed that about my RAZR, but that's just one more thing to hate about the worst phone ever. I can't wait for Spring Break so I can get to Best Buy and replace this piece of crap.

This interference will occur with Cingualr RAZR phones since they use GSM and its something about the signal frequency. You wanna know how to fix that problem? Its easy...switch to a Verizon Wireless RAZR :D
