OK, you're a computer programmer devoloping the latest NBA basketball game. You rank each player in categories such as shooting, rebounding, speed, etc. Each of these categories are based on a rating scale from 1 to 10. For example,

    Dirk Nowitski:
    Shooting 10

    Vince Carter:
    Dunking 10

    Jason Collier:
    Dunking 1
    Speed 1

Now when rating the Basketball IQ category I would grade players like Bird, Magic, and Stockton a 10. In other words no Rockets should receive a 10 on this rating scale.

What grade would you give each Rockets player on the current roster according to this system?

Why are people rating Moochies IQ so low?
Sure he sucks and he might make some boneheaded decisions sometimes, but he knows not to shoot, he passes a lot and his dribbling is decreasing this year.

I'll go ahead and do mine with an added stat like they do with baseball cards and comic books. + means that it's an increasing value and - means that it's decreasing.

    Francis: 3
    Mobley: 4 +
JJ: 8 (knows his job, rarely makes mistakes)
Cato: 6 (still will force an ugly shot or a bad foul on occasion)
Yao: 7 +(smart player with potential to be great, but still young)
    --------------
Moochie: 3 + (getting a little smarter under JVG)
Boki: 5 + (seems to be getting more comfortable which means less mistakes)
    AG: to be determined later
    Piatkowski: to be determined later
    Wilks: Not seen enough of
    Amechi: who cares no PT
    Ford: Not seen enough of

The + meaning that he moved up from a 3 at the beginning of the year. I think that he has been playing smarter under Van Gundy.

You are either implying SF and Cat are as smart as Yao or that Yao is as dumb as SF and Cat. Either way I disagree. I think both Steve and Cat would be below average in this league.

    Basketball IQ

    8
Jackson - Well rounded player and plays like a veteran

    7
Pike - Knows how to spread the floor and has awesome shot selection. It helps that he makes his shots as well

    6
Padgett - Good shooter but sometimes shoots an ill-advised shot
Boki - Haven't gotten to see him play much but so far so good

Yao - Good passer, has good floor vision, still need to understand when it's time to be aggressive and seem dominating. Also his timing on offensive penetration into the paint needs some work also.

    5
Cato - knows his role and plays aggressively
Francis - has good athletic instincts but horrible decision making skills. This is a shame considering he is our point guard

    4
Mobley - poor floor vision and choose not to pass to the open player

    3
Taylor - Forces shots and often times doesn't have the size to get deep penetration into the paint and doesn't have the height to create easy shots over the taller power forwards. Shot selection isn't good.

    1
Moochie - does anyone feel confident with this guy on the floor? Hopefully, he can adjust his game enough to show us that he is more then just a street baller with a few good dribbling skills. That isn't going to cut it in the NBA.

How can you rate Moochie 4? Unbelievable!

The guy might be able to get a 4 at NCAA.
