How can you technical foul your way out of an elimination game and THEN pick up the tech that would disqualify you for a game 7. Detroit was down by 10 with at least 6 minutes to go, anything could have happened. What a freaking jerk, he'll never, ever live this down.
that was really dumb. he's done a lot of dumb things in the past too due to his horrible temper. but he would be the exact power forward i would want on the rockets, and if the pistons don't want him, i pray the rockets can get him.
I've always hated Sheed, ever since his ridiculous comment that "young, black athletes were exploited by the NBA". Please tell me where he could earn what he does now in any other profession other than acting. Along the same lines a Spree's comment about feeding his family for $17 million or so...
More like stupid rather than jerk. He could've done it the RIGHT way like Horry did. If he's gonna go out, at least take Lebron and Varejao or someone down with him.
This is exactly why I disagree with people that want Artest... you're playing Russian roulette with your entire team and future by getting morons like these guys. They eventually snap at the most inopportune times. BTW, he's not a jerk... he's a bloomin' idiot.
He's like SJax: what you see is what you get. They're both very emotional and are highly capable players, but can flame out if they don't control their emotions. That said, I think the whole "biggest jerk" thing is overdone. I don't think he's a jerk, but definitely a sore loser. Sheed is very competitive for all of his shortcomings. That being said, he would put the Rockets over the top if we had him in there covering up for Yao's weaknesses, not to mention that he's a great defender and extremely versatile. I would take him on the Rockets in a heartbeat and would cheer my arse off for him. We need some guys with emotion on this 'mundane' team of ours for a change. As for the Artest comparison, I think that's a bad one. Sheed is emotional and has temper issues on the court (SJax-like basically); Artest is certifiable...he has mental issues that go beyond 'anger management' on the court.
But hey... it worked once for the Pistons, and they did make a few other very good runs. Better than 1st round exits, I guess. On the other hand, Sheed is an idiot, but Artest is on a whole other level.
Here here on both points. No Artest here in Houston - he is already on that downward spiral, and Rasheed is ineed an idiot. DD
"already" is a bit conservative - maybe since he decided he wanted to take a year off to promote his "love" album. Still, Mad Max once climbed into the stands to allegedly defend his dead daughter, which no one (in the entire arena - although, it was in Portland) could confirm. Can't say I wouldn't welcome him. Rasheed is and always has been an idiot. I'd never welcome him.
I agree it worked, but Rasheed had toned himself down on a couple of those runs. He's a powder keg waiting to go off. I'm not exaggerating when I say this, but I'm really surprised he hasn't taken a swing at or knocked a ref down by now. People call it competitiveness, but I disagree - when you're competitive, you don't do it at the expense of your own team. If you do, what exactly are you competing for? You compete to win - you blowing your lid and getting T'd up repeatedly isn't competition - it's a sign you just can't control your emotions and are a whiner.
I completly agree. Being competative means you want to win no matter what. And when you hurt your team with your actions you are not competitive you are a stupid emotional whiner. When i play with my team i really cannot stand the idiots who get T's because they whine or get to emotional. It doesn't help you with winning the game. it hurts you.
Better than first round exits indeed. I'd love to have him on the Rockets. He's basically what we hoped Eddie Griffin was going to be.
Yeah he's a jerk. But damn, he's the "knife fighter" we've been looking for. I could totally see him firing up tmac and yao when the opponent tries to fugg with them. And he'd probably smack rafer around for missing all those open threes.
