http://www.nypost.com/sports/4795.htm "Although a tad tainted by his criminal conduct and ridiculous rhetoric, bidding for Rasheed Weed's services has sharply escalated within the last week. Resolved to rid themselves of the rising free agent, the Blazers gave permission to agent Bill Strickland to elicit trade propositions from teams his client would consider re-signing with come summer. So far, all three Texas teams and the Hawks - maybe even the Pistons - are involved in the auction. Rasheed's preference is the Rockets, I'm informed; the obvious appeal being Yao Ming and Steve Francis, which is why they refuse to include either one in trade talk. Meaning, Houston may have to wait until the offseason to pursue Rasheed."
I've noticed in the past that Rasheed and I think Cuttino seem to be tight during games. I think it was Cuttino. I've seen them walking out after games and giving each other hugs.
That would be lovely. Just think, a power forward who will be able to hit the open jumper to allow Ming to operate inside without players sitting in his lap.
sounds good if he can keep his cool. He's a good rebounder who can play hell of d. But it if happen can we get him sig longterm and will he be happy here.
I would crap in my pants if we can get him without giving up Yao, Francis or Mobley. The guy is definitely a head-case, but if surrounded with a bunch of good guys he might change. I think if he has his head on straight he could be a top five player in the league.
It was also mentioned in the article about the last Rockets game against Portland that Mobley was restrained by "his friend Rasheed Wallace" when he wanted to go after Qyntel Woods.
Anyways, I guess it would be either just cato,or cato + mobley. But if Sheed wants to play with ming, francis, and mobley then I guess its just cato. But frankly, I dont see portland just handing us sheed (their second best player) when in fact the rockets and blazers are competing for the playoffs together. Unless Sheed is sooo nuts he literally might start demanding a trade right NOW and start being a major distraction in the locker then maybe they deal with us.
Isn't this the 50 millionth time (about 10 millionth times by NYPost) that we've been linked to Sheed? I'll believe it when I see it.
It depends on how much Sheed wants. If it is $50 mil/5 year, then probably. If he wants much higher than that, then Les may be reluctant considering Yao will demand a max contract in two years.
And I think Artest is now on the block starting today. Because of his comments in the paper last night > Artest fired back, criticizing Carlisle's offensive system. "He calls all the plays. It's not easy to play in a set every time," Artest said. "I feel like I can play. If they don't want me to play here, I can go play somewhere else." Id rather have Artest than Sheed. Sheed probably will demand more money than Artest and plays worse defense. When I read that Sheed intentially threw a ball at boumje-boumje at practice and injured him and just walked off laughing, the guy is off his rocker. I might actually rather have Cato at this point than Sheed. How good of a passer is sheed ? What about his handle? I havent seen enough of his play to know what he actually does besides stand on the three point line and launch threes and throw a towel at Sabonis face.
I think Rasheed would be more ok if we traded Francis than Mobley. There's no way we'll get him without Francis, Mobley or Yao, that's a guarantee. I don't think he'd come if we had to give up Mobley, so I'm guessing it will have to be Francis. But Francis' value is WAY higher than Wallace's right now, so we'd have to be compensated for that. Meaning, I'd want them to take MoT, or at least Moochie, off our hands for a smaller contract. As I mentioned in a previous trade proposal, I'd be open to this Francis for Stoudamire then MoT + Trade exception for Wallace I'm not convinced that the Blazers would tie up all that money, but you're fooling yourself if you think the Blazers can do better than Steve Francis for their 2 nutcases who's only value is capsapce to them.
Correction: Now that I think about it, I don't think that would work because Francis is a BYC. That kills some hope right there. I wouldn't give up Francis for Wallace straight up, so a 3rd team would have to be included who would give us a damn good pick or a good player on rookie scale.
Hmm. Okey dokey. Me, I like chasing Artest. But it's not so easy to get a byc guy. Has anyone told Ron-ron it's really hard to trade him? Maybe that's why he's pulling on his leash.
Lets see... An exceptionally athletic 6'11" PF from Philadelphia who can take his game inside or stroke the 3, doesn't rebound nearly as well as an athlete of his caliber should, and is known to be completly, hopeless, utterly insane... Wait, are we still talking about Eddie Griffin?
we should keep mobley and francis and try to get sheed, just look at other teams in the west, they have all kind of star players..... we need that too!
No thanks to Sheed. We have enough knuckleheads as it is on our team - we certainly don't need the President of their club.
i like francis & mobley. i know they're frustrating at times but it'd be weird for me to see htem in another uniform other than the rockets.
I am not trading Francis for Wallace. To me Wallace is just too unstable to unload a solid guard in Francis for him. I am not totally opposed to Wallace on this team (but do have some reservations), but I dont want to move Yao or Francis.
