According to the Chronicle Wallace can become a free agent next year. If we dont get Webber this year I wouldnt mind him next year. He beomces a free agent if makes the all star team three times. He has already made it twice. I dont know how much money we would be able to offer him compared to Portland but....

    Wouldn't mind him????

He is arguably the most talented PF in the league.....with 3 point range to boot. I would love Rasheed in Houston. If he could just curb that damn attitude.

He is a competitor, but 25 techs already this year?? WHOA!

I'd prefer Sheed over CWebb assumming we could lock him up for the long term.

Outbid Paul Allen? I don't think so.

I guess the sarcasm wasnt that evident in my "wouldnt mind him" statement. I would love to have him HoopT.

Its not that much about out-bidding Paul Allen for him. He will get his money. We can offer him more playing time and the chance to play with Steve Francis. [IMG]

Biddding isn't a factor because Wallace will definitely get a max salary. I would still rather have webber, though. Winning isn't easy when your best player has been ejected from the game already.

Actually, with the window of opportunity appearing to close on the Blazers, the Rockets may have a legitimate chance at obtaining Sheed. I give the Blazers, barring any major moves, another year or two as a contender before Father Time starts to take effect.

On the other hand, if Wells and Barkley continue to improve and the Blazers continue to draft well, Sheed may remain in Portland for the rest of his career.

Actually, I think he can become a free agent this off-season if he's named MVP or named All-NBA First Team. I've heard elsewhere that he becomes an FA if the Blazers win the championship. I wouldn't want the Rockets to pursue him though. I hate Wallace.

I love Wallace's attitude, and I think the refs just dislike him now. They give him technicals for such stupid things. I love the fire that Wallace brings every game. That is something the Rockets have been missing all season, except for a few games and the three game streak. Wallace would be a dream come true for this team.

this contractural bonus really piqued my interest. While Wallace gets to do this, I don't think any new contracts can do this.

Note: this contract was signed in 1997. I do not believe such clauses are allowed anymore. I have no CBA faq's to back that statement, but being that the purpose of the new CBA is to close such loop-holes, I think it's probably not allowed anymore.

Basically, such a "bonus" clause allows you to renegotiate someone midway in contract to maximum salary. No such type of renegotiation is allowed in the current CBA. And no such type of option-ing out to free agency is noted in Larry Coon's faq, either.

A friend of mine taught Sheed in high school in Philadelphia. Might be bolt home to the Sixers? They are a team on the rise.

Wallace deserves a lot of the technicals he gets. He looks absolutely ridiculous out there sometimes.
