Just thought I'd throw this out there... Ok, we pretty much got james and rashard looks to be a viable option. The ? is: Can they play D. Can they guard Tparker, Dwilliams, Boozer. If we get rid of Battier who will guard the lebrons and dwades of the league?? Tmac??
Were gonna have too many hands to feed If u go with this lineup: James Tmac Battier Rashard Lewis Yao there are gonna be some very upset players over the amount of shots they get. All we need is a defensive banger at 4 with good rebound. Offensive skills are not necessary.
Don't let the playoffs fool you--the guy can play a lot better than that and has proven that point during the regular season when he was the Warriors' starting shooting guard when JRich was injured.
Are you talking about Chuck Hayes? I disagree with your too many hands to feed statement. Bottomline, Rockets need to get more talent if they expect to contend in a talent-laden Western Conference and it seems the management is trying to do just that.
I've said all along that Haslem is the ideal PF beside Yao Ming. If Morey can pull that off, I will love him forever.
for the record i dont think barnes is the answer...he is a much better player than the one i saw at ucla for so long, but i dont think his skillset will transfer over well to another team. he fits in perfectly on that GS team and he will want the full MLE whether he is worth it or not. I mean he had probably a great 1/2 season (really only after the indy trade), I still see him as too inconsistent and he would not be given the free reign here as he is in golden state to roam defensively and jack up 3s at will. i would prefer to see the MLE in another way, heck who knows what if, yeah and this is probably the biggest what if in rockets history WHAT IF Rashard does decide to come back to houston for the MLE? i dont think he will at all of course, but he is unrestricted after all who knows stranger things have happened.
When you have a player with no offensive skills on the floor, it allows the d to double off him and cut off all penetration. Our biggest problems with Hayes on the floor is no penetration and no threat of having to gaurd him outside the painted area. If you replace him with another clogger, what have you done to help the offense. We have a young clone of what you want unfortunately it just isn't what we need. Barnes fits that Job description nicely.
Battier can not guard the good players one on one. He is a good team player and that is it. If we can get a player with tangibles, we should do it right away.
Former all-star, 6'10, superior athleticism, 22.4 ppg, 6.6 rpg, 2.4 apg, 1.1 spg, 0.6 bpg, <2 turnover/g, >46% fg, >38.5% 3 pointers, average defender he missed 22 games last year, and again, is only an average defender, but if you think Rashard Lewis is a mediocre player you're smoking crack. obtainable...probably not.
