Sonics to go without second-leading scorer at least 2 months Dec. 22, 2006 CBS SportsLine.com wire reports SEATTLE -- Rashard Lewis, the Seattle SuperSonics' second-leading scorer, is expected to miss at least two months because of a torn hand tendon. The 6-foot-10 forward was to have surgery on his right hand Friday, the team said. An MRI on Thursday revealed an injury to the tendon sheath on the back of his hand. He caught his hand in the net trying to block Erick Dampier's shot in the opening minutes Wednesday night's game against Dallas. He was taken to the locker room for X-rays, which were negative. Lewis, a 2005 All-Star, is averaging 21.9 points and could become a free agent after the season. He leads the Sonics in 3-point shooting (40.3 percent) and double-doubles (six) after starting the team's first 27 games. Seattle (10-17) is last in the Northwest Division and has lost six straight - all without leading scorer Ray Allen. Allen practiced Thursday and is expected to return Saturday night against Toronto. The All-Star guard has missed the last nine games with a bruised right ankle. Forward Chris Wilcox had precautionary X-rays on his jaw this week after he was elbowed in the face early in the fourth quarter against Dallas. X-rays were negative, but Wilcox needed 12 stitches to close a cut lip. http://cbs.sportsline.com/print/nba/story/9887081
