Who would you rather get via trade?? Who would we be giving up?? Please refer to the other threads from espn insider and the Rashard thread on vaild potential trade options.
rashard. we don't need the "human interruption". i say pass on all head cases, no matter how talented.
Ron Ron, becuz he makes Citizen Shane expendable. If we trade Shane for Lewis, our perimeter D will be POROUS, not that it's that good to begin with.
Ron, assuming it'll only take scraps to trade for him. Shard's going to be more expensive and would probably require Battier. I'd rather trade Artest, then trade Battier for a point guard.
I like Ron Ron, and I think he could bring a lot to this team. But to me, ultimately you asked "Would you rather get a headcase via trade or a non-headcase? Remember: the non-headcase is from Houston." I didn't have to think too hard about that one. But personally, I thing giving up Battier would be a HUGE mistake. And what they're wanting for Artest is just too much too. You've got to give some to get some, but the Sura contract AND our most athletic player AND our most talented young player AND a draft pick? That leaves us with NO trade bait left. Artest isn't worth 3 players and that contract. I say let him dangle for a while out there; when no one decides to pick him up, they'll lower the trade requirements. Look at the downsides to Artest: $7,800,000 next season with a $8,450,000 player option after that (compare that to Juwan Howard's $6,883,800/$7,375,500) means that if he is a flame out, he's an EXPENSIVE flame out. The Rockets have a team option on VSpan, so if he's shows no improvement, we don't suffer. Snyder has a qualifying offer of $3,313,598, something that also wouldn't handcuff the Rockets. Though Ron Ron would be a great talent addition, we're looking at dumping $8,142,432 that could potentially be freed up (if I got the rules right) after next season, and we'll be stuck in a worse position than this current one if he goes kookoo bananas. And seeing as the difference between payroll for next season and the season after it is only $8,302,011 (and that's assuming Bonzi and Juwan both pick up their player options),
lewis, but only by a little we could use another big man and he would look nice catching allys from t mac.
artest considering we dont include Vspan, rafer, Battier, Yao, or Mac. say no to Rashard; jump shooters never prosper in the playoffs
Artest, when on the court, is a potential top10-15 player in the NBA. To say Snyder and V-Span are trade bait is bull to me. It took Houston a 2nd round pick or so to trade for SNyder just a year ago, and he spent most of last season on the bench. He's not going to fetch us anything. I doubt V-span would, either. To be able to pick up a player of Artest' talent w/o giving up a single rotation player is the best thing that can happened to Houston this offseason. My hopes heading into the offseason was for Houston to manage to simply pick up a starting-calibre player w/o giving up Mac/Yao/Battier. But a former All-Star/DPOY for 2 benchwarmers, damaged goods and a pick? Oh boy, get it done, Morey!
You know we woudl be LUCKY to get Artest for Sura's contract, Snyder, and Vassillis. Artest is a better defender than Battier, with a more complete offensive game. Sura's contract is not as valueable as you think, and will expire on its own anyway. Snyder will never be a starter on a good team, and VSpan will ATMOST be getting 10 minutes per game this season. We're basically getting rid of garbage and mediocre assets for an All Star talent. That said, I'd probably take Lewis over Artest. My heart says Artest, but my brain says Lewis.
Rashard, hes more of a shooter and we need to surrond with other plays that can score from anywhere. We don't need both artest and battier, maybe if battier was involved in the kings deal and we got bibby too.
I changed my mind again. I think Artest would fit us better. I think Adelman might have what it takes to control his insanity.
I completely agree. IF he doesn't go crazy. But if he does, he's a pox on whatever team he's on. I've already seen one of my 3 favorite teams nearly destroyed by a head case (that would be the Philadelphia Eagles); that aspect of things is why I'm thinking this way. And I said we should keep them on the roster so we're not handcuffed to Ron Ron for another 2 years. Once the VSpan/Snyder/Sura contracts are all gone, the Rockets could pick up a good PG.
Artest is pound for pound the best defender in the league. he is no slouch on the offensive end either. remember hoe destroyed us last season. two 30 plus games last season on us. he is a very underrated low post player. can play anywhere from the 2 to the 4 spot with great deal of ease. for talent and the price, it's Artest all day long..
