He has withdrawn his request for an extension, can opt out of last 2 years of his contract after this year and become an unrestricted free agent. Seattle will be forced to move him later in the season when they are not winning and need to get something out of him.
If we can get a guaranteed extension, I'd give them any combination of JLIII, JHo, Snyder, Hayes,...almost any non-starter, along with a 1st rounder, for Rashard Lewis. Think they'd bite?
LOL. Would you bite if you were Seattle? Rashard Lewis for JLIII and Juwan Howard and a 1st rounder(which will be #15-22 pick, unless Yao and McGrady goes out for the season again) They already have Ridnour and Earl Watson. They don't need a 3rd string pt guard and over the hill power forward.
Seattle hasn't put Rashard Lewis on the trading block. The thread title is misleading. This is just Rashard Lewis doing what Kobe did. He is going to shop around some other teams in the summer. He will play Seattle like a violin and get top dollar. All will be fine.
They should go after Rashard and Robert Swift. He is injured this year but he could be a great backup center
Ok, what is a deal they would do with us? See, I was thinking that with Padgett, they get a shooter. Head gives them a 3rd guard that can score. Taking back Earl Watson helps alleviate Howard's salary, essentially a salary dump along with Sura's expiring deal. And they pull a #1 out of the deal. I'd pretty much be willing to give up anybody not named Yao/TMac/Battier to get this deal done. The 2 young guys I would like to keep is Novak and Span. But if we got Rashard, there would be less need for Novak. I really want to hang on to Span if at all possible. I think he has big time potential. But still, if we had to throw him in to complete this deal, we get Watson back, so we've got another high quality point that can shoot it a little and play great defense. My thought on the whole Rashard situation is this. If he says he is going to opt out, he is essentially forcing a trade. It's another McGrady situation all over again. All he has to do is say that he won't sign an extension with anyone but the Rox. He's got all the leverage. And then Seattle either does nothing with the hopes they can talk him into an extension after the season, they run the risk of him walking for nothing. Or they move him for any possible assets they can get. If you look at Seattle's cap situaion along with the fact they have new ownership and there is no telling what direction they are going to take that team, some future assets and some salary relief may be about the best they can do. 1. Who else is going to touch Rashard without the commitment of an extension and what can they offer Seattle? 2. What other teams is Rashard going to be willing to commit to with an extension? (I will answer this one. The only teams that Rashard will commit an extension to in my view is teams close to his home that have a very high chance of winning a championship. That spells Houston, SA and Dallas, doesn't it?)
Lewis is not worth giving up the company store. We have a shooter now. I don't think we need him. Is he that much better than Novak can be? More athletic, agreed, but can he do that much more for us?
I think we could have an outside chance if Bonzi ends up performing well. Bonzi, Head, Howard, 1st rounder for Rashard. That being said, it is unlikely, and I don't know that I want Rashard anyway. He still seems immature to me, and I think he would disrupt chemistry. He is still a guy that is out to prove the doubters wrong about him (since he wasn't a first rounder) rather than do whatever it takes to win.
I think Decemeber 15th is the date when you can trade players that you recently acquired in Free Agency. Rashard had some issues with the old Management, aka Starbucks dude. They have new management, so I am not sure how this is going to work out.

Seattle Trade Breakdown Outgoing Rashard Lewis 6-10 SF from Alief Elsik (HS) 20.1 ppg, 5.0 rpg, 2.3 apg in 36.9 minutes Incoming Bob Sura 6-5 from Florida State No games yet played in 2005/06 Juwan Howard 6-9 PF from Michigan 11.8 ppg, 6.7 rpg, 1.4 apg in 31.7 minutes Change in team outlook: -8.3 ppg, +1.7 rpg, and -0.9 apg. Successful Scenario Due to Houston and Seattle being over the cap, the 25% trade rule is invoked. Houston and Seattle had to be no more than 125% plus $100,000 of the salary given out for the trade to be accepted, which did happen here. This trade satisfies the provisions of the Collective Bargaining Agreement.
