Raptors Unveil New Alternate Road Uniforms

The Toronto Raptors have unveiled a new alternate jersey for the upcoming 2008-2009 season, the Toronto Star is reporting.

The new strip will primarily be black with a red insert color, with a maple leaf featured on the back neck of the jersey. The Raptors say the maple leaf emphasizes that the Raptors are Canada's team.

"We are very excited about the concept of our new alternate jersey which brings black back into prominence while enhancing our staple color red," said Bryan Colangelo, president and general manager of the Raptors. "The inclusion of a maple leaf on the jersey is a tribute to all of Canada who we proudly represent."

So was it true the Rockets can't get the black alternate jersey because there is too many black jerseys??? WTH I wanted the Rockets to get the black Alternates

It should be pretty obvious that we don't have black alts because we're not trying to get them. Unless, of course, you have to apply 5 years in advance and all these other teams had gotten in line ahead of us and took all the slots for black.

I just don't see what the big attraction to the black alternates is. There are so many teams out there that have black already (Spurs, Blazers, Heat, Sixers, Bulls, T-Wolves for a while, and now the Raptors) that it just wouldn't be original anymore.

think of how many teams have some form of blue or red on their jersey...half the league

After seeing Milwaukee using a retro alternate, it would be awesome to see the Rockets using their retro championship era jerseys modified to look modern and use that as an alternate. Food for thought I guess. If only I still had photoshop...MS Paint wouldn't do that concept any justice.
