Then, according to sources, something crazy happened. Hedo Turkoglu shifted course, deciding late in the day that he wanted a different house. The Raptors had been serious in their pursuit of Shawn Marion and Carlos Delfino. Now the most likely scenario is that they'll be renounced or traded, along with Anthony Parker. To clear the kind of cap room that would be required to sign Turkoglu would probably take renouncing every free agent Toronto has, including Pops Mensah-Bonsu, Jake Voskuhl and some cap holds from players overseas. That would give the Raptors room to offer Turkoglu more money than Portland was offering -- although there are plenty of details left to be worked out, especially as Toronto may first try to trade some of those players instead of letting them go for nothing. Toronto, as a roster and a city, offer an international flavor that Portland does not have. And with similar money, that proved more appealing than anyone had thought it would.

Does that mean we should try for Pops?

I would sign Pops in a heartbeat. Hes young and is about 6-10, 6-11. Hes very strong and very athletic.

No doubt but is he a FA or RFA and does that matter if he is cut to make room for Turk?

And then how much would he command?

Pops before Jermaine O'neal please. I've seen people talk up Pops quite a bit on here.

We will still be too short. Pops is undersized. He measured 6'9" in shoes, that's the same as Scola.

He aint that young, he's going to turn 26 once the season starts. He does look like a very good rebounder, but below average shot blocker. And he is sorta undersized. But I mean, if we have no other better option then I guess I can't complain if we get him.

He's even shorter than I thought.
I went to the 2005 draft camp website here http://www.nba.com/bulls/news/predraft_05.html

They have a link to the measurements How they measure up

    Pop's measurements
    6'7.25" without shoes
    6'8.75" with shoes

He can become our starter in our 3 mini-center(under 6'9" club) line up with Chuck Hayes and Dorsey.

His real height is closer to 6-7 or 6-8.

Can we just nab Chris Bosh and be done with it? Brian Cook for Bosh, easy.

    ... :(

He is a tall stiff. There are better options out there.

Jake is a great guy. He just has never found a spot on a roster where he has consistently had minutes. He alwys played backup in Chicago and backed Amare in Phoenix. He would be a nice addition on the bench. We need some size, love Chuck wagon but he is NOT a backup center.

Voskuhl is exactly the type of guy the Rockets are going to be able to get via free agency. Anything better is going to require a lot of luck or a trade.
