Ok, so today after work I was doing some trail riding on the dirt bike... well they are starting to build some water holding ditch thing near the back of my subdivision, they are building close to the trail that I ride on.. well after riding for about an hour I see a cop walk onto the trail with a foreman, I could have easy turned around and they would have never found me... well I ride all the way down to the end of the trail to the cop and turn the bike off and I we talk... he tells me that I cant ride back here and there was a "NO TRESPASSING" sign way down at the end.. he was a real dick, I think with all my gear on he thought I was some dumb kid..

He asked to see my ID and I told him my ID was in my house a few blocks away, well he asked what street I lived on and I told him.. he then asks if I know anything about the girl on my street that has someone following her home everyday.. and before I could tell him I did not, he says very loud "I'm SURE you dont" kinda like you may know something you punk.. all while the foreman stands by and doesnt say anything...

Next he says well we are going to go to your house run your ID and talk with your parents, I said sir I'm 24 and live alone.. after that he says well we are going to go and run your ID and depending on what comes back I will
    A. Take you to jail
    B. Give you a ticket

Then he says I will turn on my lights and follow you to your house and will allow you to ride on the public street, but dont go over 20MPH.. After this the foreman leaves and I ride back to my house, when I get back I run in and grab my ID and give it to him.. he is currently still in his car and I hand it to him.. right as I hand it to him he says.."I'M so sorry I had to talk like that, but the foreman is someone important in Katy and I had to talk like that.."

After this he goes on to tell me "I could care less, but guys like make him act like that" He also tells me other good places to ride and tells me about the girl that lives on my street that was being stalked.. the cop did a total 180 from when he was in front of the foreman... When he was running my ID he asked about how I get to keep it untill 2011 and if I got the new one online.. I told him I did and my last one lasted 6 years, he said "you're lucky"

my point of this is, I can see how people sometimes have bad things to say about the cops.. was I in the wrong, technically yes, even if the sign was upside down in the grass and I only drove on that trail one time... he did have the right to stop me, but come on just because you think you need to be a hardass in front of the guy that called you out, atleast be consistant and dont tell me that the only reason you said those things was because the guy was important.. I really think I would be less pissed off if he stayed pissed and acted like he was going to give me a ticket, but "let me off this time" I cant stand 2 faced people and from the people that are watching over us should work for a higher standard... Well after all this he didnt give a ticket or a warning, just told me other trails to ride next time...

Sorry for the dumb rant, just pissed and the woman isnt here yet to vent to her..

im gonna balance out your bad cop story with a good one:

I was on the way to Brenham, in a hurry, and got pulled over by DPS out near Waller just a few days ago.

Anyone that has been pulled over by DPS knows that they rarely give warnings (I've been pulled over by DPS 7 times in my life and got a ticket all 7 times).

So anyway, Im going about 79 in a 55. Way too fast, I admit. So he clocks me, gets behind me and turns on the lights. Well, I was just a 1/4 mile from an exit that leads to a shell station. So I pull in the station and next to a pump (intentionally under a canopy). The officer pulls up, gets out and comes to my window. Before he says a word, I tell him "sorry for not pulling over instantly, I thought this would be better, so we could avoid traffic and stay out of that hot sun". He says nicely, "hey no prob", asks me for my license and tells me that he clocked me going 79 in a 55. He asks me why and I say "officer, I don't have a good excuse so Im not going to try and make up a bad one". He kinda chuckles and says, "well, I appreciate you being honest" and about 30 secs later and he lets me on my way with a just a warning and a little advice. "Watch your speed around this intersection from now on because thats where I catch alot of people doing way to fast".

So anyway ..I guess honesty is the best policy and most law enforcement are pretty nice to deal when you just tell them the truth.

I'm gonna counter your story with a bad one. I tried to do what you did in really bad weather on a really busy road during morning rush hour one time. I slowly drove making two turns to pull into a parking lot so we could get off the busy road and I could spare the cop the possibility of being run over by another car. The weather was really bad and it was pitch black that morning when it should have been light out. So, what does he do even though I'm doing this responsibly and obviously not trying to go anywhere? He starts squawking his f-ing siren sporadically and sped up threatening to run me off the road. So, just a few seconds later we get there and he comes up yelling at me, "YOU NEEDED TO PULL OVER IMMEDIATELY...BLAH BLAH BLAH...b**** b**** b****!" So, I already knew anything I said wouldn't be held against me cause he already was a d*ck so I, in turn, b****ed right back at him "I'M TRYING TO FIND A SAFE PLACE TO PULL OVER IN THIS PITCH BLACK, THREATENING WEATHER ON A BUSY ROAD DURING MORNING RUSH HOUR!". So, right then, D*ck proceeds to lie about how fast I was going and his female partner comes rushing up. He initially mentioned I was just speeding but, then she comes up late, and claims I was tail-gating someone also. I don't deny speeding but I wasn't going as fast as claimed and I certainly wasn't tail-gating anyone. I'm sure if I would have kept my mouth shut...I would have only gotten the speeding ticket. He was d*ck so I was a d*ck right back at ya! That still pisses me off the way he came up in a rant like that when it was obvious I was just looking for a safe place to pull over. It's not like it went on for more than 20 seconds.

    Da-Glyde,

You need to read my thread that I did earlier this week about my dumbass neighbor and his dogs, especially "Roamy" - so I know how you feel about stupid people.

Oh and I have lost count of how many times I have been pulled over - it is over 22, I know and I have only gotten 3 tickets. Almost every time, I am just honest and don't bs them. I think they really appreciate that more than some made-up sob story.

Reminds me of another good one.

My community has an off duty officer patroling the neighborhood from time to time, not so much for crime, but trying to keep solicitors out. Problem was, my section is 2 miles back in the neighborhood and my street was rarely patrolled, which mean, solicitors hit our street hard, usually late at night, when the off duty officer had gone home.

Well, one day, I was mowing my lawn and for one of the few times, he happened to drive down my street. I waved to him and he stopped and got to talking and he mentioned the smell coming from my back yard (the wife was cooking burgers on the grill). So I insisted that he take a hamburger with him, and he refused, but I rushed into the back yard and ran back to give it to him, along with a coke before he turned around in the cul de sac. He said thanks and I said no prob, and then I mentioned how solicitors were really bad on our street.

Ever since then, my wife or I usually see him down our street at least 1 or twice a day.

Counter with another bad one. Some friends and I back in college were cooking burgers and smoking some dope in the backyard. I was out in front checking the mail box near the street. A cop comes pulling up and he mentioned the smell coming from the backyard. He insisted I take him back there so he could see what was going on. The crew in the backyard just finished putting together burgers and were finishing off a doob. The cop came back there, arrested all of them, and grabbed a burger saying "you won't be needing this anymore". He let me go cause I wasn't back there and I didn't officially get caught "in the act". He then went into a whole spiel about "Big Kahuna Burger" immitating Samuel L. Jackson in "Pulp Fiction". He then grabbed another burger and took them downtown. He drove by once or twice a week for a while after that.

By the way, that is a joke. I just like the whole "I'll counter you" thing and it seemed like a good counter to your story. LOL

What kind of bike do you have? Do you just ride trails or do you ever go to any of the area motocross tracks. I have a CRF 450, but have not been riding much.

Well Roamy has been quiet since that night, so I haven't done anything. It probably won't stay like that, but I am keeping my fingers crossed that it will.
