[rant]More of a rant here (hopefully this thread doesn't come across being FattyFatesque) but here in middle Tennessee, it was about 44 degrees going to church as it seems that we went straight from summer to winter. So here is my family getting all bundled up with heavy coats and hats and boots and so forth and we finally get in the car and get to church (our service starts at 9). So as we are sitting on our customary back pew with my in-laws, I see these 2 girls that are about a year older than my 9 year old daughter and one of them has sandals on (which is bad) and flip flops (which is worse!). And talk about not being dressed for the weather either - one of them had like capri pants on and the other girl had a flimsy skirt with no tights or anything warm under on at all (leggings).

I do not understand why I have the hatred I do towards flip flops and I literally have to bite my teeth when I see women (although one time it was a dude believe it or not) wear flip flops at my office. Yet is it asking too much for people to dress better in terms of the weather? Why do people, especially kids insist on still wearing flip flops and sandals when it is 44 freaking degrees outside?? It makes no sense to me whatsoever. If someone can give me some insight on this, I would greatly appreciate it.[/rant]

Sandals are more comfortable, and its quicker to put on/take off.

Not the best choice in cold weather, I agree.

I suppose you have no problem wearing flip flops with socks on then, right?

    Right?

I completely understand a desire for people to dress with respect at church... but you cant understand why kids insist on still wearing flip flops and sandals when it is 44 degrees outside? Uh...It's because they are kids. My parents would have to force me to wear a coat when I was a kid. I hated it.

I hate wearing shoes. My dogs gotta breathe. If I can't go barefoot, I go flip-flop. If I can't go flip-flop, I go Heff.

with your disdain for flip flops you could never live in austin.

i could see having a problem w/ wearing them in church, but flip flops are gods gift to mankind, no matter the weather. i just got back from walking my dog and i was sportin' flip flops on the walk. it was glorious!

im about to saw up some tree limbs i took down yesterday and i think ill keep the flip flops on for that too! so if i cut off a toe its on you manny!

I have a question for the board:

How many of you drive with flip flops? That's something I would have a problem with. But if people want to wear flip flops while just walking around, that's their business.

i take them off when i drive - too cumbersome. they can get caught under the pedal and thats not good. still safer than driving while texting though!

I thought Clutchfans was a male dominated site? Then again, there are so many fashion related threads here that I think we actually have more females than we think. Some of yall need to turn in your Man Card.

I understand not liking wearing flipflops, but not liking other people wearing fliplops?

And the reasoning too. It's not that you don't like how they look, it's that you don't like other people's feet getting cold.

    Weird, Manny!

When it is mid-40s in Minnesota, I will wear shorts, short sleeve shirt and sandals. Some folks acclimate to the cold better than others.

What did jesus sport on his feet when preaching?, anyway like someone mentioned earlier they are kids! Dude when I was younger I would wear shorts and a jacket, c'mon WTF! Seriously they don't know any better they just want to go in what they feel most comfortable in. Plus aren't flip flops cool or something amongst 9-15 yr olds., and 16-18 jordans? Hahaha chicks that wear jordans is my pet peeve! That crap is ghetto

Maybe it's because 44 degrees isn't that cold. If I wore sandals, I wouldn't hesitate to wear them in 40 degree weather. I find it more amusing that your family bundled up in heavy coats and hats for 44 freakin' degrees.

I knew this girl from Alaska and she said it would get so cold there that they'd just wear flip-flops all the time because their feet would be freezing no matter what.
