Has only played one real season. Showing a lot of promise. Where do you rank him in the NBA right now as a point guard/floor general, as a player responsible for handling the rock, and getting his team in gear offensively and creating offense for them? Rank him in regards to how well you think he would perform if healthy and given the reigns of a team as the starting point guard and 35-38 minutes per game of playing time. Also, if you don't mind, share what other point guards/floor generals/playmakers are better than him at running a team and creating offense for others.

    Top 5 no chance

    CP3
    Deron Williams
    Steve Nash
    Rondo
    Devin Harris
    Chauncey billups
    Tony Parker
    Jameer Nelson
    Gilbert Arenas

He's in the muddle after them, IMO

He can make top 15 for sure though

    Jason Kidd,
    Baron Davis,
    Mo Williams,
    Derrick Rose
Andre Miller and Mike Bibby maybe?

those are some point guards which I would regard higher than Sessions right now as well. I'm thinking 10-15

I hardly ever watch the Bucks and have only seen him a few times. I view him as a backup on a good team and a starter on a very bad one. Has no jumpshot at all but is good at getting to the rim. Don't remember much of how good a floor leader he was. Overall, Sessions isn't worth getting excited about.

I think the OP meant rate Ramon Sessions strictly as a FLOOR GENERAL AND TEAM FACILITATOR. Those names mentioned above such as Mike Bibby and Devin Harris are definitely better than Ramon as an overall player(at least currently), but they wouldn't be better FLOOR GENERALS. Ramon is an excellent assist man and knows how to run an offense as well as finish strong and efficiently around the hoop and inside the arc. Andre Miller went for 7 million a year and it was considered a bargain pickup by the Blazers. Ramon is probably one of the best floor generals and can see the floor and run a team in the NBA. Sure Devin Harris is better than him overall but Devin Harris is much more scoring focused than Ramon who creates FOR OTHERS.

I absolutely love Ramon as a player and I really wish we'd extend him an offer sheet around the MLE. I guess I'm really biased lol but guess where the only vote that went for "top5" came from? hehe

I tried to word the poll to get you to project where he would fall with this season of 2009-2010 if given full playing time (35-38 mpg) and a starting job, not what he has done last year. It is a forward thinking, forward looking poll. What will he do this season, where will he rank if given health, minutes, and control of an NBA team?

I like the obvious guys like CP3, DWill, and Nash. I think Sessions will be a better pointguard/playmaker this coming season than guys that are quickly becoming the over-the-hill gang (e.g. BDiddy and Kidd). I can't get a handle on Derrick Rose as a point/floor general. Obviously, he's a great player and a great talent and he is a point guard with incredible skills. So, he's up there. Chauncey is an outstanding floor general even though he is getting a little long in the tooth. I still expect him to be in the top 5. Devin Harris, once again, great player, great defender, and a point guard. Rondo is turning into a very good floor general. Parker? I view him as a scoring point more than a floor general.

I guess I'm saying I think Sessions would definitely be in the top 10 this season as a floor general if given health, minutes, and a team to run.

Someone suggested, I believe it was the Anderson Presser thread, that Sessions was a head case. I have seen nothing to justify that comment. What I have seen is the exact opposite, a very heady kid, with Nash like potential to control the dribble, move and find people for easy buckets. I would be interested in the information about him being a head case and if indeed that is true (which I do not believe it is right now), then I would move him out of my top 10 and out of my top 30. I believe that a floor general has to be very bball intelligent and heady so that would disqualify him in my eyes from consideration.

Here are Floor Generals clearly better than Sessions.

    Deron
    Cp3
    Nash
    Rondo
    Andre Miller
    Billups
    Kidd

Here are guys, That Sessions might be better than at being a floor general.

    Baron
    Parker
    Calderon
    Harris
    Rose
    Bibby

He's really not as low as some of you think, The question was just as a pure PG or Floor General, where does he rank. Too bad I voted 15-20 before I made this post. :(

Assists do not equate to floor generalship. Iverson gets 7apg. Rafer is a better "floor general" than Sessions.

Good list. I'd add Jose Calderon to there, Andre Miller/TJ Ford/Jason Kidd/Mike Bibby/Raymond Felton. Derek Rose and Russell Westbrook have advanced decision making for a 20-year old and both have the potential to develop into good facilitators.

Which is why I put him 16-20.

I personally equate floor general with facilitator, decision maker. I think Parker/Bibby/Harris/Calderon are good ones. Harris/Calderon have yet to have good enough teams around them to prove it. I think Rose has the potential to be a good one, he did show alot in the posteason.

    Baron is a question mark.

    Oh, the internet!

You gotta love how the hype builds for players who are good to elite at one or two things. It's really odd, somehow it places them in the same class as players who are above average at half a dozen things. I guess it makes people feel good that they've picked up on some gem that the media hasn't found yet. You know, if he just becomes good at a couple of these things he's awful at he'll be a perennial all-star.
