You put Tmac ahead of Novak! Okay you have just been officially moved into the "Don't know **** about basketball club".

I don't get putting McGrady at the top of the list. His shooting form clearly has very streaky results. Does a guy with very good shooting form shoot less than 70% from the line and less than 30% from three?

I'd put Novak at the top. I think Luther Head's shot looks much more effortless and smooth this year than last year. Those two are definitely 1 and 2.

Hmmm.. depends how you define it. Head is nice with his shots but shooting form is not the prettiest. He has a very unique shot where he jumps and then shoots at the apex of his shot. You can see it from a mile away. Chuck Hayes' free throws are pretty ugly as well.

That said, Novak's form is probably the best and Tmac's shot looks sweet as well.. Call it inconsistent but you know it looks pretty(the form) when it goes in.

Well, when it goes in McGrady's shot does look nice. The problem is the way he shoots it, he doesn't always have great balance and he it's usually pretty flat as well. I like Luther's shot (this season) because he gets very good arc and the stroke appears much smoother.

    Spot on.

But Luther has a bad habit of jumping INTO his shot. If he'd kick that habit, I think he'd be even better shooting the ball. I should know this, because it's a habit I'm trying to kick as well, jumping in when shooting the long-ball.

I don't know who has the best shot.. But I do think TMac's form is better than Novak. In terms of looks-wise.. TMac looks a whole lot cooler.

Like I said, I can't say who's the best, but here are the worst:

    1. Mutombo
    2. JHo
    3. Snyder

    1. Novak
    2. Padget
    3. Battier
    4. Tmac
    5. Juwan (good consistent form with fair release time but lack range)
    6. Yao (release time is below par)
    7. Alston (Good release for a primary ball handler)
    8. Head (Semi under-handed release, though it works)
    9. Vspan
    10.Chucky
    11.Snyder
    12.Dikembe

Are we ranking this based on how pretty and smooth it is or how textbook/effective it is?

Prettiest and smoothest is T-Mac's. His shot is hot and he gets it off anywhere cuz he jumps so high.

"Best," if you're asking for textbook form is Novak.

Ming and Novak are clearly the best shooters followed by TMac. Mutombo and Hayes would probably be the worst. Battier's shot has not impressed me so far. Head, Alston, Synder are very inconsistent. Howard actually has a relatively consistent mid-range jumper. JL3 is supposed to have good shooting range, but I have never seen it at the NBA level. Padgett has a pretty impressive stroke.

It's not difficult !! The order of shooting so far this season is:-
    V.Span 100.0%
    Hayes
    YAO M
    Novak
    Mutombo
    Battier
    Head
    Snyder
    Tracy McG
    Alston
    ---------------
    Padgett 38.1%
    Howard 37.9%
    Wells 30.0%
I know this is not our favourite order but it what has happened so far 06/07
So you can clearly see who are the scrubs so far and can clearly see who should be scoring !At least it illustrates that JVG is substituting with two of our worst shooters in Padgett and Howard.

Everybody has rafer near the bottom of their list (if not the bottom) I know hes not that great of a shooter but he does have a great form when he shoots the ball and a very good release. He kind of shoots like Ben Gordon (Im not saying exactly the same but they do shoot very similar)

For me, my ranking is based on coaching perspective. If were to coach a young lad, how will I teach him or her the proper techniques:

    1. Body position
    2. Elbow position
    3. Knee position
    4. Release and support hand position.
    5. Follow through
    6. Release time
    7. and other necessary or rather pertinent technical skills.

    1. Novak by FAR

    2. Yao

    Then the rest....

Tmac's shot is not something you would teach anyone. Always has a leg sticking out, falling out of balance, no arc. He just gets away with it b/c of his talent.

you people are off your rocker if you think tmac has a better shot than novak (or yao for that matter). his technique is pretty poor, typically flat, and he has the tendency to fade away from a lot of his shots.

he may look cool doing it (especially when he's stroking it), but it's far from a solid form.
