If he were in the draft I think he would have a chance at slipping out of the lottery all together although I thought he should've been number one last year.

    beballin,
You might be a bit optimistic regarding the retrospective status of our own EddieG. There are at least 3 guys who fit that mold in this year's draft. Gooden is 22 years old, proven (20 ppg, 12 rebs) for a final four team. EddieG's only year of college was around 16/10, if I'm not mistaken. Halario is a huge version of EddieG. Jeffries is proven and smoother, too. Also, don't forget the Europeans. Etc., etc.

The real question would be "would EddieG be a lottery pick this year? Yeah, probably, but around 10 to 14.

This is an incredibly deep draft. I'll bet we'll see at least 12 guys having 8+ year careers. What's your bet?

This draft is so deep that there are players in the second round like Jacobsen and Dixon etc. who could have great all-star careers in the NBA. In any other drafts, I don't see those players going anywhere near the second round. Also players like Kareem Rush would be high lottery pics any other years.

There's definitely a lot more good players in this draft, but Eddie would be in the same boat that guys like Wilcox, Hilario, Gooden, and Stoudamire are in. He could go anywhere from 4 to 12

Top 5....if Stoudemire destroyed Gooden at Houston's workout... Katy bar the door had Griffin worked out with him. Had Griff gone back to school he would have been a MONSTER and might have put up better overall numbers than Gooden.

I personally don't think that there is THAT MUCH of a disparity between drafts from year to year. To say that a player that easily could have gone #1 last year (time will prove that accurate) is not in the top 13 the next, I don't buy it.

It is a case of what have you done for me lately, with all the hype surrounding these draft picks, the waters are a little mudied to compare to Griffin, but a good thread nonetheless.

    GO ROCKETS!

Man, whatcha know about Eddie?!? He was a steal at number 7 last year, and he'd be a steal this year too!! I remember him blocking Shaq straight-up twice last year, once on a dunk and here in this picture. You can't coach instincts like that. Give me a guy with some defensive skills to go along with the offensive skills any day. You can't buy the intimidation and the shot- altering ability that Eddie brings to the table. He will help anchor our D for many years to come, hopefully. The guy is fearless. Nice to see the Rocks get an athletic forward.

To answer the question you would have to hypothisize on what kind of year Griff would have had as a college sophmore.
My guess is he would have dominated the Big East. He is still 6' 10" 220lbs. Certainly he would be considered along the same lines as Drew Gooden, with more potential for improvment.
So I would say 4,5,6 ish.

when rounded up his numbers were 18 ppg 11 rpg and 5 bpg as a freshman. If he had stayed in school then I don't think it would be a stretch to say that he might have avg'd 25 ppg 13 rpg and 6 bpg.

    Definitely top 3

If Griffin improves as a soph., then he is absolutely a top 5 pick. I think he goes ahead of Dunleavy and Gooden.

Griffin is a 3 point shooter, who blocks 4 to 5 shots a game, and rebounds as well as anybody in college! Name another forward in this draft who is as capable.

I am pretty sure EG averaged 20-21 ppg, 10+ rpg and 4.5 bpg in his only college season. As a 19 year old freshman, that was remarkable. I think he would have gone anywhere from 3-5 in this season's draft.

EDIT: Whoops, I see I was wrong on his point production. crash beat me to it.

On potential, he'd go top 3. I don't think some of us realize how talented the kid is. I'd definitely take him over MD. If he had come out when Miles did, I think he would have been taken ahead of him. Eddie's main problem were alleged character issues. I'm a huge fan of his game.

On a side note, I saw Tsika dribble and shoot on espn. Am I missing something?

Given that Eddie was only No. 7 last season and this year's draft has deeper talent, it seems fair to conclude he would not have gone in the top 10. Caveat being if he had a stellar sophmore year, something we'll never know.

I agree that this years draft is deeper, but the only reason that EG went #7 last year was because of some off the court issues. Remember that some people had him going #1 overall. We are very lucky that he fell to us.

I think it is fair to say that Griffin is just as impressive as or more impressive a prospect than Gooden, Tskiti, Hilario, Wilcox, or Stoudemire.

    Gooden-4th Pick
    Tskiti-5th Pick
    Hilario-7th Pick
    Wilcox-8th Pick
    Stoudemire-9th Pick

He probably would have gone near where he went last season. 4-8.
