That title was not supposed to sound dirty... Regardless, I have about 4 or 5 small round wet spots in my living room carpet that were discovered yesterday. They are all 1-2" in diameter. At first I thought it was a water spill. I soaked it up last night, and this morning I found all the same spots were just as wet as yesterday. Doing a quick Google search tells me that I might have a busted pipe either from the bar sink above the spots or a line from the A/C units that comes into the house. I figure I need to call a plumber to source the problem and rectify it. I haven't used a plumber here in Houston before, so I turn to CF.net for recs on plumbers that will work in the Galleria area that you all have had happy experiences with in the past. Thanks!
If it's above, you would notice the ceiling being moist and sagging. If it's from the wall, you should be able to notice the floor being consistently wet from the point of the leak. Just 5 random spots would make me think problem is above...
I looked above and found no sign of a leak in the ceiling. Plus, now when I press down on the wet spots, they are not drying. They just get wetter. I don't have a dog, but I do have a cat. I considered the idea of the cat having urinated on the carpet, but my girlfriend (who has had the cat for 10 years and recently moved in with me and brought it with her) checked the spots and said they were not urine but water.
Spots are not any color at all. The carpet is beige and the spots are just wet spots that appear to be water.
Did you get drunk both nights? You know we tend to pee in weird areas... For example... the closet...
Is the AC vent nearby? Could be condensation if the ducts are not sealed well? Mystified. Some houses have sewer lines under the foundation, but that would have nothing to do with this.... Call the plumber. Or...if it's near a sink and vaguley "linear" - it's probably the drain pipe.
Yeah... maybe my original post wasn't clear... but I was asking for recs for plumbers in Houston b/c I've never used one. I live in the Galleria area and wanted to get someone out here today or tomorrow.
I can't totally recall the name but I used a company called "affordable quality plumbing" or something a few times several years ago (I'm at work, so I cannot look up the reciepts to verify). Very good, very fair price. I think they charge a flat $99 per hour. No "this type of work will cost this much" without any idea of how much effort is involved.
Thanks. I gave them a call, but unfortunately they said I was outside of their service area. Any other recs that will service the Galleria area?
Do you sleepwalk? Maybe your primal instincts are kicking in while you're asleep and you're marking your territory...
