This is another thread about questions you don't know the answer to but want to, are afraid to ask for some reason, seems stupid to you but you know there is an answer, etc. etc. etc.

    1. Why are police cars not allowed to hide behind objects when clocking drivers? I have always heard they are not allowed to hide themselves, is this true or just an urban myth? If it is true, why can't they do it?

    2. Has anybody ever hit for a home run cycle in the majors? (1 run, 2 run, 3 run, grand slam all in the same game?)

    3. What's the caloric content of oral sex? What I mean is, if you ingest fluids that spouse, partner or whatever gives off, what is the calorie amount in that? :D

    4. This is sort of related to number 1; is it legal to just drive by and flip off a cop or say "*uck the police" or anything else deragatory? If it is not legal what can you be charged with?

    5. Is it true that the U.S. has the highest age limit for drinking in the world (21)?

    6. Can anybody give me a summary of how interest rates work on things like credit cards, loans, etc.?

    7. What are dual processors and what are their advantages?

    8. This is related to number 3; is squirting real? :D

    9. How much in taxes do millionaires and billionaires pay each year?

    10. Why do you seem to scar worse as a child then as an adult?

    11. Is it true when you see colors on anything, you're just seeing what colors of the spectrum that the object absorbs best?

    12. Why are divorces so expensive?

That's all for now but I am sure I will have more later don't forget to ask your questions too.

    those are extremely random.

interest rates -- think of it as the cost for borrowing money. i'll let you borrow $50..but i'm gonna charge you some money to do it..and we'll base it on a percentage of how much you borrowed and add in a function to account for how long it takes you to pay me back.

why are divorces expensive? -- because attorneys are expensive

OK, here's another question then. Do you have to have a lawyer to get a divorce?

Legal - but it certainly gives them a reason to nit-pick on anything else you do.

Two CPUs in the same machine. In theory, this allows for massive speed increases in computation, however the code must be optimized heavily to take advantage of it.

Because kids pick at scabs, IMHO.

    11. It's the opposite. We perceive only the reflected colors, not the absorbed ones.

    edit:

What is cool is that an object really has no color. It only absorbs and reflects light. The human eye and brain translates light into color.

Not sure, but I don't think it is true. They always hide behind blind curves or on the downside of an overpass trying to surprise you.

    2. Has anybody ever hit for a home run cycle in the majors? (1 run, 2 run, 3 run, grand slam all in the same game?)
Look up 4 HR games and start there. There could not have been all that many.

    3. What's the caloric content of oral sex? What I mean is, if you ingest fluids that spouse, partner or whatever gives off, what is the calorie amount in that?
    Ask Rick Springfield.

    4. This is sort of related to number 1; is it legal to just drive by and flip off a cop or say "*uck the police" or anything else deragatory? If it is not legal what can you be charged with?
I don't know if it is legal, but it is definitely stupid. They can find something to charge your dumb ass with.

    5. Is it true that the U.S. has the highest age limit for drinking in the world (21)?
This would not surprise me. The other places I have been outside of the US don't have as stringent a policy on this. In Tokyo, they had beer vending machines out on the street.

    6. Can anybody give me a summary of how interest rates work on things like credit cards, loans, etc.?
Mad Max explained - also taken into account is your history and gullibility.

    7. What are dual processors and what are their advantages?
    Well, there's two of em.

    8. This is related to number 3; is squirting real?
    Yes

    9. How much in taxes do millionaires and billionaires pay each year?
That depends on how creative their accountant is.

    10. Why do you seem to scar worse as a child then as an adult?
I guess it would have to do with the body still growing - not really sure on that one.

    11. Is it true when you see colors on anything, you're just seeing what colors of the spectrum that the object absorbs best?
False - you see what colors it reflects best

    12. Why are divorces so expensive?
Life is a b**** and so are most women. (not mine, of course)

    I hope this was helpful

    1. I can't see how this could be true. Every ticket I've ever gotten has been because of a cop hiding behind a tree, pilar, median, etc. I always see cops hiding somewhere where you can't see them until it's too late. I think it's an urban myth.

I wisely told a cop to "**** off" and was arrested for disorderly conduct.

That's what I actually meant, they post up some place it is hard for you to see until the last minute, that's fine but if they were behind something and you could not see them at all that is illegal say if they were hiding behind a house or fixture.

Oy, no, no, no...if you say it like that it's absolutely misleading. It just allows two computations to be done at the same time without slowdown. The speed at which the computer does each of those computations remains the same.

All this talk about how code has yet to be "optimized" to take advantage of it is really more of a marketing gimmick to sell "technology for the future" if you ask me. Multi-threaded coding has been around for years, and believe me...developers have done plenty to take advantage of it. Hell, Windows 95 needed multi-threading so you could run AIM and Internet Explorer at the same time.

Unless a single application has multiple processor hungry threads that need to be run at the same time, no amount of "optimizing" will make things run significantly faster. We'll see something along the lines of 20% improvement in future everyday applications "specially optimized" for dual cpus...and that includes games. I believe the most intensive polygon/interpolation calculations are done through the video card, not the CPU.

Isn't that really a rhetorical question with no real answer? I really am not sure, hell Swoly will be around to answer that one.
