First update of the season was put up this afternoon (sim of last night). Those of you who traded picks last season had best post the NAME of the player selected in this thread. If you don't know, do some research using the team history link - I am not searching through the transaction thread to see who your scrub 5th rounder was that got traded in order to even out a deal for god-knows-what-reason.
I got Rob Privett from the White Sox. He was there 4th round pick, and DrewP agreed to give me his 4th rounder. You were in chat Zac, so I'm pretty sure you heard!
Didn't really want to start a new thread on this soi I guess this is as good a place as any to post it. I am starting to get pissed off at the makers of OOTP. I think they have progrmaed in to the game something that makes any team I control get the worst injury draws ever. I have lost 6 major League starters for at least 4 weeks so far this season. I even lost my starting SS and 3B in the same f***ing game. What the hell is the deal with this. Is anyone else having this bad of a time with injuries???? . edit: So you guys can see who i have lost: Cresse- 5-6wks Mlicki- 6-7 wks *Phillips- 4 wks *Ensberg- 7 wks $Floyd- 6 wks $Hernandez- 4 wks *-in the same game $-within 5 days of each other Notice many of them are younger players. i have not lost Biggio,Bagwell or some of the older guys.
Castor, I think Zac can contest with you about the worst inury draws, at least for the new sim. He lost Terry Adams for his career and Lance Berkman for several weeks in the same game. Most of my injuries have just been for a week or two, although it's pretty much always my big players like Pujols, Drew, or Kile. The only serious injury I've encountered is the huge loss of my AA MVP backup-catcher Mike Difelice.
I have noticed that injuries are pretty bad with this version as well. I never had one player get hurt and be out for the season in the old sim, but yet I have had one (Tim Drew) get hurt in season 2002 with a career-ending injury and another (Dennis Markham) suffer a season-ending injury for this season. It also seems to me that this version features WAY more talent decreases than increases. Maybe I'm spoiled by the old sim, but it doesn't seem like the ratio of decreases to increases is 50-50 more like 75-25.
Yeah, I've had some injuries that are day-to-day, 1 week, 2 weeks, 4-5 weeks, 7 weeks, 6-8 weeks and all that crap. It's not really hurting my big time players, just the minor league guys.
It is all random you know Manny - but if you want to find the talent increases all you have to do is open up Marlins development page.
LOL Heath, I think a few other teams have had just as much talent increases as Florida...like the Injuns with RA. Damn RA just wanted to play for you before he got any tdevs.
Marlins: 27 positive developments so far - 17 negative Indians: 8 positive developments so far - 21 negative and you were saying deve?
OK, OK, but some of those developments weren't that great. Most of them were for those 15-20th round rookies!
What a doozy of a finish. Arizona takes the NL West by 4 games in a surprisingly anticlimactic final week - they had some clutch wins at the end of the season. The three-way race for the NL wild card ended with the damn computer team, Chicago Cubs, edging Houston and Colorado by a single game. All three teams lost on the final day of the season, I believe. Castor can blame dean for that, and Smallz can take out his anger on DHR who most certainly did not need the win. The Yankees made a little run at the AL East title but must be content with the wild card. At any rate, the playoff matchups are: Athletics at White Sox Yankees at Red Sox Cubs at Phillies Diamondbacks at Cardinals Looking at my schedule, we need to finish at LEAST the first round Sunday night if we're to get the entire playoffs in before I take my leave - and I'll be damned if I'm going in to get cut whilst I wonder who the 2003 sim world champion will be. DV, Drew, NYK, Nomar, Manny, DHR... it is crunch time. Pull together and get those lineups in in a timely fashion - now is when we separate the lineup-posting men from the boys. Speed wise. Or something. Good luck to all the participants, condolences to those who barely missed the playoffs but congrats on a grand season, and special props to SF3 for running away with the tankathon so convincingly.
Congrats Manyard, it was quite a race. Now the Wakefields must begin a long and steady resigning process followed by the most mind twisting bender.
HOLY ****, Gavin Floyd decreased! What is that man? Choo also decreased to FGA, I'm doomed to all hell. I basically traded Padilla for Hidetada, Henn, and Choo. The only person who even is doing anything for me now from that Padilaa trade is Vance Belue, 20 year old AAA Catcher. BTW, I'm not backing out of this trade, so don't catch the wrong drift.
You now have him because you whined and complained when Cat wouldn't accept it, then it goes through, and now you whine and complain. Just stop it.
OK, show me where I whined and complained, Rule. You can't because I'm not. I made a damn deal, and it stands.
Well, eliminations worked out to where we were able to get all of the playoffs done in one night. Congratulations to the Fightin' Phils who took the Series in 6 games from Boston. With the unexpected speed of the playoffs I think it might be nice if I were able to get the new season initialized and uploaded before Tuesday - if this is a problem for anyone, please just say so, but it might be nice for you guys to have a good solid length of time to check out free agents and rookies. This means that if you want to resign someone, feel free to post it in this thread or ask me about it in chat Monday.
