What happens if you move to a city where they do not have a 24 Hour Fitness? Will 24 Hour Fitness cancel your membership for you and return your prepayment, or do you lose the money that you prepaid when joining? I was a member of Gold's Gym in the past and IIRC, Gold's would void your contract if you moved to a location where they didn't have Golds. Is that the same for 24 Hour Fitness? Thanks :)

I think they just pro-rate it. So if you paid for 12 months and only used 6 months, they would give you half your money back.

That being said, I recently realized how 'tricky' those guys are. I prepaid for 3 years. However, the contract says I paid for 1 year and they are giving me 2 years for free. Thus, if I cancel after 1 year, I get nothing back for the last 2 years since it was given to me for free. Tricky, huh?

I think you would get fat from the lack of exercise.

Speaking of 24 hour fitness, I just got on a plan where I prepaid for 3 years, after which I can reupp for $24 a year. Not a month, but $24 a year, and according to the agreement the rate is guaranteed for life. It was $950 for the entire deal, which is $26 a month for 3 years (which is less than the $32 I was paying before anyway). And I can use all the levels of clubs (Sport, Active, etc.) and any 24 hour fitness in the country, which I didn't have on my old deal either.

Yeah, the contract calls for 1 paid year and 2 years for free. But looking at the deal as a whole, I don't see any hidden screwjobs. Except for maybe the fact I could be paying even less if I wanted to. The deal is itemized to include 5 workout sessions with a personal trainer at $250 (with the prepaid years making up the other $700). The way I signed the agreement, it seemed like they were separate transactions, and that the $24 a year deal is attached to the prepaid years, not the workout sessions.

But I'll probably just keep the workout sessions. I could really use some pointers on my form for some of these exercises that I haven't tried yet because I'm afraid of messing them up and putting myself in a dangerous position (Squats, Deadlift etc).

I'm is Southern California, and I'm not sure if the deal is avaliable everywhere, but you might want to check it out.

I was at the gym a couple days ago and one of the employees got on the loudspeaker talking about a deal where you only had to pay 24 bucks a year. Too bad I already prepaid for 3 years with a $200 renewal. Not that that was a bad deal at the time, but 24 dollars?!
