Man... the Rams just ripped up this vaunted Atlanta defense on that first drive. Anybody else remember the Michael Vick thread, where the guy was basically saing that ATL's success was all due to their defense, and not to Vick at all? I'm not saying that's not entirely true, but the start of this game has definitely proved otherwise.
I can't believe that it is legal for Dunn to wear a necklace like he has on. You would think it could get ripped off.
Just like I expected. Rams defense is crumbling. Vick, Dunn, and Crumpler are walking through easily. I want to see Vick vs. McNabb.
No way. Maybe he can't always find the open guy, or his passes aren't very accurate now, but that's all stuff he can learn. The most important thing is that he has a cannon for an arm. His passes are like bullets. Once he "gets" it, he'll be the best passer in the NFL.
Jeff George had a cannon for an arm, and he never "got it". Not saying that Vick isn't good and can't be great, but accuracy and decision making isn't a slam dunk to develop for anybody.
It should be DVDA. (Alge) Although the network would never use it, because of it's sexual implication.
Points Allowed 2004 - 337 2003 - 422 Points Scored 2004 - 340 2003 - 299 The Falcons only scored 41 more points than in 2003, but they gave up 85 fewer points. And, yes, I still say that Vick is overrated when some people say things like he's the "biggest difference-maker" in the game.
Time of possession. The Falcons without Vick last season were horrible on defense mostly because their offense couldn't stay on the field. Why wouldn't he be the biggest difference maker in the NFL? When he plays the Falcons are good enough to make and win a playoff game, without him they're one of the worst teams in the league.
Also, the field position battle comes into play. Without Vick, the Falcons were three and out on a lot of possesions... forcing them to punt from their own territory several times more than with him. You can't say its one or the other. Its a little of both. Without Vick or a defense, they were one of the worst teams in the league... until Vick came back at the end. With Vick only, they're likely where they were two years ago... 10-6 and in the second round of the playoffs. With Vick and the defense, they're 12-4 and going to the NFC Championship game. Its not that I'm giving all the credit to Vick and none to the defense... but you can't just look at stats to validate what Vick adds to this team.
What does that have to do with anything. Dan Marino was a jerk too. The only difference was that he could back it up.
Nick, That's a cop out. JumpMan, As far as TOP, I would like to that proven rather than simply asserted. Perhaps it's true, but the proof has not been offered.
