One more point guard on the market. Sessions in all likelihood won't be quite as coveted as Dragic, but Sessions opting out could still be a positive for the Rockets with regards to Dragic's free agent situation.

Won't be "quite" as coveted as Dragic? Understatement of the century. If he's willing to come here super-cheap and backup either Lowry or Dragic, I'm good with that.

I think Sessions get MLE money or slightly above MLE money. What will Dragic end up getting? $8-10M? Can the Rockets somehow manage to re-sign him at somewhat of a discount rate?

Obviously virtually every team would prefer Dragic over Sessions, but I don't think it's out of the question one of the teams in need of a PG will settle for Sessions.

Sessions option out also creates a sign&trade opportunity that wasn't there before. Granted it's a fairly slim one, but the Lakers now are one of the teams in need of a PG without any cap space at their disposal.
Should the Rockets not be able to find good value for Lowry on the trade market, a sign&trade with Dragic (and Scola) for Gasol might make sense.

    Not dumb at all.

Worse case scenario, he gets paid half of what he originally got to sit on the bench.

Best case scenario, he gets overpaid because some team out there lost out on PG sweepstakes.

Watch LA not be able to get Deron, and have to pay Ramon more than what he got while he was on the team. That would be funny.

Unless LA trades for a PG, what choice do they have but to bring back Sessions? They only have the $3 million taxpayer midlevel. Will not land a better player than Sessions with that money.

This is a power play by Sessions agent. He knows full well that either the Lakers will have to bring him back, which means more years on his deal, or he will go get overpaid by some team desperate for a PG. Smart move for a player who knows this is his last chance at a good-sized contract.

He can play, and is arguably better than Lowry. Good move on his part.

Awesome that you know what the Lakers are thinking, because the evidence says they acquired Sessions....

Given your track record with such players as Spanoulis, Jordan Hill and Hasheem Thabeet, this is the death knell for his NBA career.

Sure when he can control a team and make it a borderline playoff team without an elite C and an elite guard why not.

Only his parents would attempt that argument.

He would have been a lot smarter pocketing the $4.5M and upping his value in LA instead of taking a paycut for a 3 year deal...which probably won't be guaranteed after 2.
