To me it seems like Raja Bell would be the perfect answer for backing up Cuttino. In the 2001 playoffs, he faired well in slowing down Kobe and Ray Allen significantly. I know he's not a special player or anything, but all we need is a few quality minutes a game from him. Also, I think Byron Russell would be great as a backup 2 or 3. He too is a good defender and is a good slasher who would fit well in the transition game. What do you think?
i like raja bell. he did a really good job in the 2001 playoffs (for someone who was an unknown up to that point). he kinda disappointed last year though. as far as the rockets getting him goes, i don't see us having room to pick him up, and i'd rather keep oscar torres and tierre brown, anyway. for that reason, i don't see why we would bother. or why philly would get rid of him. he's cheap help for them. i'm fine with the group of players we have now. here's hoping we stay healthy this year and start playing better team ball!!!
i started a thread with the same topic about a week ago and most people like the idea of raja bell over bryon russell. i would sign bell to a 3 yr deal for about half the MCE. for those "in the know": is there any talk from the front office about wanting someone like bell? i think right now it may be hard to tell. rudy and cd are trying to sign ming, and are talking to lewis at the same time. im not so sure they are that worried about raja bell right now.
i agree bout bell.. he's got an artest-ish style.. but we should try to trade for him to make some room
Raja Bell is out of Phili even after Speedy is gone. I do not see the need for Bell. If he was that special, he would not be available.
