Deangelo Hall is going to be released tonight or tomorrow according to ESPN. Michael Huff may be as well. Those are two guys I'd have interest in if I'm the Texans. I wonder if they'll release a lineman.
why are they releasing them? we know hall is out of the question, his moral standards are not on par with our philosophy. =/ huff will do. =)
Man, Reeves and Faggins always make Kubiak and company look the other way when they're on the field. Why can't they do the same for Hall? I'd be happy with either one.
Michael Huff is a player they should jump all over if he's released. I like D'Angelo Hall but he's got some attitude problems.
I'm glad we drafted Dunta over DeAngelo, but DeAngelo would be a nice addition. Michael Huff would be an awesome add, too. I'd trade them even a second round pick for the both of them, just to assure we get them.
Michael Huff sucks guys. Like... I think he could be decent if he somehow ever figures out how to break up a pass or make an open field tackle... But he's been a horrendous bust. DeAngelo Hall has been burned all over the field every game. So what if Nnamdi is on the other side? just go to the other side and plunder on. Trainwreck Central continues.
wow. ProFootballTalk cites a league source who claims the Raiders will continue to purge as many as 15 players before next season. The source believes Javon Walker and Tommy Kelly will highlight that purge, with the idea being to throw that money at Nnamdi Asomugha for a long-term deal. If the Raiders are willing to cut ties with DeAngelo Hall because of injury and contract concerns, it makes sense that Walker will be the next "name" player to go. Source: ProFootballTalk.com http://www.profootballtalk.com/2008/11/04/hall-the-first-step-of-a-silver-and-black-purge/ Its an interesting move... cut all ties and mistakes made right now. Bring in 15 scrubs at minimum wage, can't play any worse than these pieces of ****. Like I said, trainwreck central. I have never seen an organization go into a 7 year tailspin in which it gets worse every year. "reload don't rebuild" is a bunch of BS, its more like trying to cover up a gaping flesh wound with a band-aid. I can only sit back and laugh at how this will go over with the players union. Al is going to have the whole NFL mad at the Raiders yet again.
It would make sense for the Texans to take a look at MeAngelo. The bottom line is he's got some talent left in him, but the Raiders are ****ing morons for trading a high 2nd round pick for him and then signing him to a 70 million dollar extension, and this might be the best thing they could do... just let him go now and avoid paying him an additional 16 million we'd have to cough up. Huff on the other hand has been so bad that he was replaced in the starting lineup by an undrafted guy. He was supposed to be a better fit at Free Safety but he's been unable to make a play. I'll be surprised if he's still in the league 2 years from now. Nice waste of a 7th overall pick.
You could have had Matt Leinart... For years, the Raiders were my second favorite team behind the Oilers: Daryl Lamonica, Fred Biletnikopf, Pete Banaszak, Billy Cannon, Willie Brown, George Blanda, Marv Hubbard, Cliff Branch, Ted Hendricks et al What does Madden say about this circus?
HUff has been pretty bad in the NFL, but Hall is getting dropped for financial reasons. Given how bad our secondary is, I don't think we can afford to not bring him in. This year is probably a wash, but it can be our first major move for next year. Evan
He's been asked about it a few times. The main thing he says is back when he coached there were like 6 guys on the staff and it was easy for everyone to be on the same page, but its difficult now. The most surprising thing about the Raiders cutting Hall right now is that this is basically all Al Davis's decision. That means he has to cut the guy he specifically brought in before draft day 8 games into the season. Apparently he's finally starting to realize he's lost it and the Raiders need a GM.
