Anyone heard of this guy before? I just ran across him and saw some videos of his beat box skillz. He's pretty good in my book. This video is kinda freaky though. http://youtube.com/watch?v=SaEBcp44O9w&search=rahzel
i understand respecting the old school, but rahzel is on a whole other level. thid dude started with the group, The Roots. very good rap group who makes their own music. (i don't know if you know them or not). if you haven't you should hear some of their songs with him as the main "instrument". they're pretty cool. edit: or maybe you just referring to the name.
I was. I have listened to the roots, and appreciated them a lot. I agree he is in his own league. A new nickname would serve him well.
I remember him, his peak in popularity occurred in the late 90's and he was all over MTV and BET and I even think I saw him on VH1 too.
Rahzel was my favorite beatboxer. I wondered what happened to him after he left the Roots. The Roots brought along another guy named Scratch who was pretty nice but he was no Rahzel. My favorite Rahzel moment was when he did the beat and chorus at the same time. I didnt think that was humanly possible.
Check this one out ... he remixes Kanye West's Jesus Walks by himself. http://youtube.com/watch?v=9RcB6M-d9RQ and him doing Ironman ... http://youtube.com/watch?v=HzhkhYebSAo
I saw Rahzel in concert with Mike Patton (Faith No More, Mr. Bungle, Fantomas, Tomahawk) they did a whole set with no instruments. Rah would beat box and Patton would sing and make crazy sounds with his voice. It was pretty wild.
He was also in one of the OLD SCHOOL NBA Lives for computer. I think it was '99. I used to love the song on that game. Anyone remember that?
It was Live 2000. It was cool at first, but after hearing it a few hundred times it got old. Still, Rhazel is the man. I think the song he did the beat and the chorus on at the same time was "If your girl only knew."
Yeah, I posted about Rahzel in one of the many hiphop threads. He's unreal. His skills are sick. You guys should check out his CD "Make the Music 2000". On that CD is a hidden track where he and another incredible beat boxer named Kenny Muhammad go up against DJ Slinky and DJ Skribble in a battle of man vs. machine that many call the greatest beat boxing cut ever produced. It's sometimes called "the 4 elements". Kenny does 2 of the elements and Rahzel does the other 2. Here's Kenny Muhammad doing Kraftwerk and then performing with the New York Philharmonic (I posted this in another thread) : http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=55C0RirU3yA
