That was PAINFUL to watch, it was like watchin someone from Jr. High asking questions, the players were even put off by it. Cabbage has to step up his game, I mean that was horrible....only Shane was being polite, the rest were completely dismissive because the questions sucked. DD
Twill was not really enamored with thacabbage's questions. So I take it thacabbage and Clutch are still not seeing eye to eye, therefore thacabbage is still continuing his self imposed exile from clutchfans?
What do they not see eye to eye on anyways? And I agree that was painful to watch. I felt bad though, T-will and Kyle had such horrible attitudes towards him.
Now come on DD, Chuck was a bit into it. Shane was polite. Everyone else though? Yeah, they looked like they were being tortured and bored out of their minds.
Chuck was ok after the first 2 questions, when it got to be about his ball handling...but seriously that was an ugly interview. DD
I believe thacabbage's website is viewed as a direct competition to clutchfans, but I'm just speculating.
LOL @ Scola's reaction to his Yao question. "WTF. Yao? Who!?... " Sorry if no one else was able to translate his look like I did.
Truly pathetic considering he's affiliated with ESPN. The role is too socially involved for Rahat. He has a timidity about him that will NOT bode well in NBA locker rooms. T-Will didn't show him an ounce of respect, and I was surprised to see Chuck so disengaged. His reaction after the JVG question was priceless...
T-Will really seems like he doesn't care when he spoke, then again, no1 else really cared cuz this guy asking questions was odd.
Man, you guys who are bashing the Red94 blogger Rahat Huq totally need to give it a break. The reality is, Rahat is a very intelligent guy who is probably smart enough to get into Harvard Law School. But is he not--cool. I don't mean to bash him. As I've matured I've learnt to stop judging people like I used to do all the time. So I'm going to try to describe Rahat from an objective(we'll point of view. Rahat is more nerdy than hip, more geeky than cool, more Battier than Williams. He is the type who would stay in front of a computer writing and analysing mass stats about basketball than going out there and pull a few dunks or jumpers to experience basketball. He is the type that uses more brain than brawn. He is well educated and groomed by his mother to show great manners, great etiquette and respect to all other people--totally great for completing the next engineering project or congress bill draft, but not so great for NBA locker rooms. He'll earn millions in his life, but he'll earn it in an office rather than a business. Now look at NBA players. A majority of them were born to teenage moms with dads fleeing 10000 miles away, grew up in the projects, dealt with drugs and violence, all immersed in an underground rebellious culture. All this politically correct stuff...is totally nonsense to them. Now Rahat and a lot of black players like T-Will are polar opposites. Rahat has got a white man's culture. And T-Will has got a black man's culture. A bit like the value differences between the East and the West. I do not blame Rahat for that. Rahat's personality and culture is a culture that very much derives and stems from this very bbs board-Clutchfans. On CF, you have posts like :"TERRENCE WILLIAMS STOP FREAKING TWEETING", "RajanP11 @Klow7 we lost quit bein so damn happy all the time". On CF you get bashed for expressing any kind of personality. The people of CF who gets the most respect and resonant aura, are basically, if you were to be positive--very smart, well-spoken, mature, collected, wise, educated scholars . If you were to be negative, I guess one could call them, boring geeks and nerds. Now I don't mean to offend those awesome posters. I'm just tellin' it the way it is. thacabbage was one of those scholars, or nerds--depending on what you think of him as. Because if you show personality and political incorrectness on this board, you get instantly bashed and flamed. Anyone who shows negativity and criticism of the Rockets is instantly labelled as "not a true fan!" or "why aren't f*(*(king showing our team support?!". like, if someone goes and calls this team "****", you are instantly reported and bashed. anyone who questions Morey's moves are labelled "haters". Those are the "idiots". People who are always positive has the best life on CF, like Denniscd for example. He is always praising and supporting, and tada! he's got more rep points than my rep points x1000. Those people are the "gentlemen" Now Terrence Williams don't giv a **** about politically correctness or whatever, he just goes and shows his ghetto personality and swag. He ain't gonna show you no respect if he is not interested in you. He fits in better with the Portland JailBlazers with the likes of 'Sheed, Bonzi, Z-Bo, than he fits with Battier, Patterson, Yao. Hes just gonna punch you if you keep on asking more boring questions. He is one of those "idiots". So there, I don't blame thacabbage for conducting a boring lifeless kill-me-to-sleep interview. He's much more "gentlemen" than "idiot". Its not a surprised he couldn't fit in with the NBA lockerroom. Its no wonder he had so many rep points on CF and writes a flawless blog. I bet DaDa couldn't do the interview Terrence Williams/Kyle Lowry any better. thacabbage is just too "smart" for his own good.
I thought he asked good questions. I liked that they were "big questions" -- the sort that makes for good discussion in a blog or on a message board -- and not the day-to-day sort of questions that might be asked by a beat writer after a game. He might get more interesting (and less disinterested) answers if he sticks to interviewing the veterans and the coaching staff. Chuck brought up Chicago as a good defensive team that isn't relying on a rim-protector. That's interesting, because the way Kurt Thomas plays defends actually reminds me a lot of Chuck Hayes. He is about 3 or 4 inches taller, but he relies on lateral quickness, strength, and intelligence to defend rather than length. Defense is about attitude and commitment was Chuck's take, which is the right mindset for players. Maybe in reality there is a cap on how good this team can defend, but the players themselves can't think that way. They can't simply accept being a bad or mediocre defensive team.
I agree. The Chuck Hayes discussion, for one, is thoughtful. Much better than fat poster with webcam ranting about team.
W22_STREAK, the alter-ego of thacabbage, or just a very close friend writing on his behalf? Your rant only validated numerous posters' critical remarks of Rahat's interviewing abilities -- he may have been blessed with a mighty pen to match his intellect, but unfortunately, he's NOT cut out to handle the socially involved aspects of an ESPN affiliated blog.
I thought the interview questions were pretty good (for the most part) as well. The interviewer should just be more confident and he's all set imo. I don't know why you guys are hating on him because atleast he didnt asked BS questions like "how big was this game?" or something anyone of us could simply answer.
Why are we dissing other Rocket bloggers? Rahat did say he's new to video blogging and still learning his way around the Rockets' locker room. The players still don't know him yet; once they get to know him, they'll warm up to him. I'm just happy we are able to get news, videos and opinions from different Rocket blogs.
