Ive tried everything. From saline nasal baths, to over the counter claritin d, to flo-nase, and I still feel like someone used high grade sand paper on my throat. Just look at the beautiful weather outside, and I feel like absolute crap. Does anyone have any home remedies to deal with allergies???
I never had allergies until I moved to Dallas...It sucks...I wish I had some home remedies...I use claritin...it helps a little...I also use the nose spray...
Move to Arizona. BTW I am allergic to Mold and live in Houston I am just basically *ucked, the degree to which depends on how much rainfall we have had of late.
What are your symptoms? Is it a skin reaction or only inside the throat? If you are constantly sneezing, PRESCRIPTION flo-nase might do the trick. Gotta definitely talk to an allergenist, man. Hope you feel better, yo. Sounds like what I have, which is just "allergies".
now that you mention it i did find myself breaking out in a rash, but i thought it was just a bug bite or something. i have some flo nase here some where. it isnt helping much. other than that ive been sneezing, and it feels like someone took sand paper to my throat.
Get some honey from a LOCAL farm- you may have to do some hunting. Take a tablespoon a day. It makes a huge difference for me, and it cured my sister's allergies completely.
Just wait a few days like everyone else. Allergies come and go like colds do. In fact, I've never been able to tell the difference, so I always take Sudafed, along with Alka-Seltzer Cold. Always works for me.
i have pretty bad allergies too - i know you mentioned claratin d didnt work, but for me if i take it before i go to bed i dont have any problems the next day. if i wait to take it when my allergies start acting up than it generally doesnt work. my friend swears by the warm water and sea salt thing - pour it in one nostril and let it work its way thru and it cleanses out your whole sinus cavity. it has to be the right amount of salt though - too much or too little will sting. diet is another factor - on bad allergy days stay away from milk and dairy as well as wheat. it is also important to drink alot more water than you normally would.
Nothing seems to help my allergies. I've been taking alegy shots for six years and they did not seem to get any better. So, my doctor had me restested. it turns out my allegies actually trippled after the shots. I am pretty much allergic to anything outside, mice, and metal. Apparently my allergist said I'm the sickest patient his practice has ever seen
Take a BATH... yes, I said a BATH, you can still be "Muy Macho" and take a bath... but in AVEENO. The 5-pack of bags is at your local drugstore. Ask the pharmacist which one you should take for that rash. Here are a couple of things that I have done that have helped "a little" with my allergies, and to prevent them from happening in the morning: 1. Shower at night. This helps dust off any stuff on you from the day, and keeps the bed bugs from biting, and the sheets from being dusty. 2. Change your sheets often. The dust and pollen that can accumulate on the sheets may be affecting your breathing. 3. Try changing the dryer sheets or the softener. If one works and gives you less sneezing, stick with it. I made my wife change dryer sheets, and sure enough, they helped just a bit. She went back to them, but when she notices I get more "allergic", she stops using them. 4. If your nose is watery, remember that it is your body losing water. Replenish with GATORADE or water. Good luck, Clutch de Goma.
Bah! I went to bed last night feeling like I had a cold coming on and woke up feeling like I have the flu. I know that it's allergies, though, from the color of my snot (clear=not sick, yellow, green=sick). But that doesn't make me feel any better. I walked around in a daze all day- I'm never 100% mentally when the hayfever kicks in. I went to the allergy specialist I work with and he said it was that time of year and gave me a script for Zyrtec and some Flonase. Anyone ever actually beaten allergies? My moms gave my sister local honey when she was two and she hasn't had allergies since. I'll try Swoly's tips, especially about the linen since my wife is in charge of laundry and the shower at night isn't a tall order. What does the Aveeno do, Swoly? I debated starting a new thread, but this one is only four years old. Let's continue the positive discussion.
allergies very commonly lead to bacterial or virus sinus infections due to the inflammation and wear of tissues induced by your immune response to allergies.
I use Zyrtec daily thanks to hayfever. It's doesn't clear it up completely, but without it I can barely keep my eyes open at this time of the year. Buy it online through Canpharm. It's MUCH cheaper.
I checked them out- $15 for 30 IS cheap- I pay a $25 copay, but I found that Zyrtec offers a $40 rebate after 4 scripts. I haven't recieved the info on yet yet- you have to sign up for some program. Details here. If the rebate is too much trouble I might go for Canpharm. Thanks for the info.
I buy the generic Zyrtec through Canpharm and it works just as good. Something like 90 pills for $24. Plus they double shipped me last month without a charge. That was deece. Somebody else from this site told me about Canpharm. I can't thank them enough.
I have given up on my allergies. I took allergy shots for 6 years, and they didnt seem to be working. When I first started them, I had bad allergies, bu nothing horrible. Since these shots weren't working, they retested me and my my allergies had trippled. I had gained allergies while taking shots. I am allergic to every grass in the world, every tree, every mold, basically everything outside. I also discovered I am allergic to nickel, so most metal in the world. I am not even able to where a necklace watch. I have currently been sick with more allergies and a fever for the last 5 days.
allegra works for me sometimes, but i get dependent on it and need more and more to get the same effect. So that was out for me.. I had tried multiple nasal medications, but they never worked. 2 key things a) Try Nasacort. Harder to get from insurance sometimes, but worth it b) With any nasal like this, Flonase, etc...you have to use it consistently for at least 10-14 days to see the effects begin. In the past, I had tried em for 3 or 4 days and said "eh, this doesn't work for me". NOT THE CASE So I'd recommend asking for Nasacort and spraying it twice a day for 2 weeks before writing it off. It's helped me immensely except for maybe 2 weeks a year. (If you're not able to get it but didn't give Flonase a 2 week period before, try that or another one you can get and give it a longer test period)
