Rafer is a pretty decent point gaurd. (That is so hard for me to say) I mean in the past week he has really picked up his game and it looks like he is ready for the playoffs. Deron Williams has played a little sloppy these past 4games but he is pretty close to his averages. Here are some stats of Rafer vs. Deron Williams in the past week. STATS (Totals) Player Name GP FG% FT% 3PTM PTS REB AST ST BLK TO Rafer Alston 3 45% 79% 10 55 12 24 7 0 5 Deron Williams 4 40% 63% 5 52 17 35 1 1 14 You also have to realise that Deron Williams is the ONLY real playmaker for the Jazz. While Rafer shares his PG duties with Tmac. I seriously believe that if we can find a way to stop Deron Williams from playing his game and get the Jazz into their normal offense then we can sweep this team.
Well both teams needed to turn it up because the playoffs were right around the corner. Rafer succeeded while Deron's inexperience was a cause to his sloppy play when it counted.
Rafer sucks and doesnt deserve to start on any playoff team. He will be our downfall, in whatever series, unfortunately.
Back in 94 when the rockets won their 1st championship, Kenny Smith was allways the rockets weakest link in the playoffs and they managed to overcome that, hopefully these rockets can win with Rafer!!
If Rafer can give us at least 70% of the numbers Deron Williams puts up(on avg), this series is ours.
Kenny Smith is the rockets career leader in 3pg percentage. He was alot better than rafer in almost every aspect of the game except defense.
All im trying to point out is that if Deron Williams does not have a perfect game every game in our series then it sould be really easy to beat the jazz. (As you can see by the totals Deron is putting up worse numbers than usual and the Jazz have gone on a 5 game losing streak)
Yes, Rafer had back-to-back very good (if not great) games, but to say he "turned it up" down the stretch ... I mean, come on. In the last 10 games -- all pretty critical -- Rafer averaged 35.1% shooting from the field and 27.8% shooting from long range. He launched eight three-pointers a night and 13.1 field goals per during that stretch (compared to Yao Ming's 15.6).
Clutch you need to do something commemorative, either a page or a photoshop, or a post, or something, to celebrate Rafers incredibly shot-happy season. I mean the sheer force of will to launch 530 three pointers in one NBA season deserves something. I would say it's Vernon Maxwell territory but he's never been where Rafer has gone.
I have no confidence in Rafer's shooting proficiency, but I do believe his ball handling is critical to the Rocket's success. The Williams matchup is not something I want to think about.
i am going to stab myself in the eye each time Rafer pulls one of this stupid floaters out, where he drives into a crowded lane and just tosses the ball over his head and bricks it in the playoffs
I am going to light myself on fire and send a videotape of it to Clutch if Rafer shoots below 36% overall in the playoffs.
