Rafer doesn't belong in the game at the last 5 minutes

Forget all of this crap about running the offense.

All he does is dribble up court and passes to Tmac at halfcourt. I saw Chuck Hayes do the same thing.

When he wasn't doing that he was turning the ball over or not watching the defender running at whoever he was passing the ball to for the steal.

MIke James needs to be in the game at the end of the game.

I still saw too much give it to Tracy and everyone else stand around, not knowing what to do.

He shouldn't have been the only one who the D had to worry about creating a shot.

    Props to Shane though!

I see nothing wrong with his analysis. Alston is the reason why we almost lost this one.

please give rafer a break. he is what he is. among all pgs we have, he is the best. if you put other pgs, they will have same problem.

i don't think rafer is that bad... mike james sometimes would just dribble the ball for 10 seconds at a time...

i guess at the end of games you'd rather have a playmaker, but i'd rather have the ball in t-mac's hands than mike james'. it just doesn't seem like any of our players are clutch, like back in the day when we won the championships... and the last 1.5 minutes were pretty indicative of what we've been doing the last couple of years. I don't think it's being lazy, but just a lack of concentration and urgency.

i think both players have their weaknesses... but mike james sometime just pisses me off w/ his dribbling syndrome. it's like he has ocd and can't get over a mental roadblock until he dribbles for at least 10 seconds.

on a side note... the motion offense looked pretty bad sometimes, but it's still early... i think yao in the low block should still get lots of run, it was pretty effective

U know frankly, as much as I love Francis, I think he'd done worse in the last 5 min than Alston. Francis decision making during pressure is probably worse than alston when under pressure.

unfortunately, he is the absolute worst starting PG in the league and has been for at least a couple of years.

I would have settled for the last minute and 36 seconds. The scary thing is I think he is our best option at the moment.

Actually Rafter played quite well before the last 2 TOs. 4 rbs, 7 assts, 0 TO, 1 steal, plus a big 3 pointer before that.

I don't understand the Rafer hating. Tmac and James both made mistakes in the end and they get free passes.

I think Aaron Brooks' instincts would have carried him in the waning moments better than Rafer did.

    Man, this is awesome!

I thought it'd take more than the first game for a new age VMac defender to emerge, but congratulations! You did it!

Out of the ashes, one must emerge.

Why was Mike James in there at the end? I mean, we knew they were going to foul and Super Novak is like a 90% FT shooter.

other than that 1:36 left remaining, I felt Rafer had a decent game. Yes he made mistakes and some costly turnovers too but so did James,Tmac, and Yao and they get free passes

Sorry try again. Im no Vspan supporter and this isn't about one game, this is about the consistency of Rafer Alston's inconsistency every year he has been here.

Shane fouled out so they put Mike James in because RA doesn't trust Rafer's shot in the end like ex assistant coach Gundy did.

what are you talking about, mike james was in towards the end of the game, he got a generous foul call where he basically got bailed out, and then he choked on 2 fts.

then with 13 seconds before halftime, he has the ball, and teh best the rox could do was a 25 ft brick of a three that james took after he wasted 10 seconds dribbling the ball between his legs.

and it was rafer that knocked the ball outta kobe's hands or he would've let a shot off at the buzzer.

course rafer's no JKidd, but he's the best we got.

and friggan shane battier, ended all chances of the rox covering the spread of 4.5, i can kiss goodbye to a grand.

Rafer was the one who swapped the ball from Kobe at the end
