I've always used the Beltronics RD's.

I had the 880 for 3 years, and it worked every time... got myself out of many, many, MANY potential speeding tickets...

than it got stolen out of my car in March!

so i went out and bought the Vector95 model... even larger radius. It cost $249.99 and also has gotten me out of a LOT of possible tickets in the past 4 months...

let's just say I love to speed and have to have a radar detector. If you're trying to stay in that price range, I recommend the Beltronics... but If I had the cash, I would defintely go for the Valentine... best RDs on the market, but boy are they expensive!

So your the guy I always jump behind on the freeway because I know he has a radar detector and I'm not going to get caught if I follow him!

ha ha, you don't want to do that man... if i notice someone doing that, i usually speed for a while, until my detector picks up a cop within a 3 mile radius, than I slow down to about half the speed limit... well the guy "using me as a shield" gets tired of my slow driving and zooms by me REALLY fast (to show off his manhood, i guess)... many times my ploy has worked and HE gets the ticket while zooming off in anger, instead of me! :D

    immature I would say.

Whats with people? Speed, run stoplights, or whatever, but please, drive courtious. The roadways are not your playground.

...and this is coming from a roadside maniac.

I used to be this sort. I drove an old Porsche 914 and zoom around at 100+ miles per hour all over Houston. Judging from my run-ins with the law (or, rather, lack thereof), I have to say I don't think radar detectors are worth very much.

To those that might be concerned: I'm older now, drive a less cool car, and I am much reformed in my ways. I am now a perfectly sane and relatively safe driver.
