I know this is a basketball website, but one thing I have come to realize recently is that there are enough people that post on this BBS to easily cover EVERY sports interest imaginable. Let's just say, if I were ever to become interested in playing Jai Alai, this is the website I would come to first to find out about it. So for that reason, I am fully confident there are a decent number of racquetball players out there that read this board. I once played a lot of racquetball in college. I grew to love the game almost as much as basketball, but since I have graduated, I can't really play in my alma mater's courts any longer (how soon they forget you...until they want money). At any rate, I really don't want to stop playing completely, but I don't know of any places around here that I could play (save maybe a 24 hour Fitness type gym, of which I really don't want to join simply for playing racquetball). Does anyone know of any good places to play? Preferably for free, but if not, at least for maybe a reasonable yearly fee of some kind? Thanks in advance for any help.
Where I used to live (memorial and Highway 6 in houston) was a place called the Westlake club. I cant give you much info besides i played racquetball a few times. Cant really help you out with Dallas..... now that I think about it, this post probaly wont help you out at all..... anyone in the Houston are play racquetball? Id love to get a cc.net league going
hey i'm a former member of the Westlake Club too... I use to go there every morning during my summers in college when I stayed at home with my parents (they were members as well)... that was a great club... the indoor basketball facility was superb!
I play racquetball at the Downtown Y (Houston) after work Monday - Wednesday. There are 2 challenge courts that are open to anyone. The competition is usually pretty solid -- it's definitely not for beginners, but isn't exactly Sudsy Monchik vs. Cliff Swain either. DrewP, and any others, I'd be up for some CC.Net action.
Well, I haven't played much since I graduated...and even then it was just by sneaking into my old college's recreation center. I haven't found a new place to play yet, but a guy emailed me with a suggestion to just play at my city's rec center. I didn't city recreation centers had racquetball courts. I plan to look into it. Although, usually, to get into those places you have to either live or work in that city. So if anyone else here wanted to play, they would probably have to live there.
