No. RIP Master of Space and Time. Saw him at a small joint in Magnolia in 2006, epic in a word. F_ck This one hurts more than any other death this year, like loosing a close friend who taught you all you know about real rock n roll.

He was an incredible talent. I saw him in venues large and small, in clubs and outdoors in front of thousands, with his own group and when touring with others, the concert in the Houston Music Hall with Joe Cocker on his Mad Dogs and Englishmen tour being an example of the latter. Like Todd Rundgren and Stevie Winwood, he played multiple instruments very, very well, although he's best remembered for his work on the piano. Like Frank Zappa, he was much better live, which allowed longer versions of songs on vinyl.

I have a feeling we're going to have a lot more sad news over the next few years. The talent of the '60's and 70's are getting up there, and many of them partied a hell of a lot for a long time.
