ahhh i just read this and was about to post it. This is sad to read. Wendys is one of the better FF restarants around. I hope it doesn't go downhill from here and turn into another burgerking/McDonalds. I put in a couple years of service at Wendys in my younger days. Rarely did we do something that was unacceptable and their overall management really cares about what goes on. Its usually my first pick of places to go (mmmmm spicy chicken sandwich). Not to mention you can pull into the driveway and be out the drive way in 1 minute with a full combo....and the food hot and fresh.
I wonder if he and Colonel Sanders are talking right now. I bet the Colonel is pissed about the fast foot business of today. I mean, Taco Bell and KFC in bed together in the same location?? OS
i saw an interview with this guy once...he was adopted and he talked about the positive effect that had on his life. he contributed tons of money to homes for children...my impression was that he was a really kind man. i always enjoyed his dry humor in his ads...I really hate to blow things out of proportion, but when kind men die we all just have to work that much harder to make up for the work they've left behind.
I'm sad to hear this -- Dave Thomas rocked! He's done great work both in business as well as in other areas of life. Dave is an American success story, and he's got the best fast food restaurant chain in existance. I'm going to miss his ads as well -- the humor was really bad, but that just added to the appeal. Wendy's has built a solid reputation on good food, great service and excellent quality. I think it's time for a Wendy's run . . . and a frosty.
I thought that Dave had sold his interest in Wendy's many years ago but had contracted to stay on as a spokesperson. Maybe the restaurant won't change in that case. He was a special man in a not-so-special business.
Taco Bell, KFC, and Pizza Inn are all owned by Pepsico, which is why you see them at the same location (also why you can only get Pepsi products at their restaurants). RIP Dave.
I know I hate that too, who cares if they're owned by the same company it still doesn't seem right. In fact in my town, they tore down all the KFCs and Taco Bells (except for one of each) and built KFC/Taco Bell restaurants.
Or KFC/Pizza Hut or Taco Bell/Pizza Hut. They are all owned by Pepsi I think.. Taco Bell: cheap food, some of it is good, usually gives you the sh!ts. Great for college students. Pizza Hut: How anyone can eat this garbage excuse for a pizza blows my mind. They used to be really good back in the early 80's when most of us were kids, but have gone downhill ever since the introduction of the Stuffed Crust pizza and all of their other gimmic crap. KFC: Some of their stuff is ok, but nothing beats Grandy's homestyle fast food cooking.
I never really understood the square hamburger patties, though... Frosties kick ass, though...You don't end up popping a vein in your forehead in order to eat a frosty, unlike some fast food shakes out there...
Popeyes chicken is the best ... I think the square patties are used for better productivity. Round patties leave left over meat, which have to be mixed back together.
Seems like your losing a friend for dome reason, Even though I havent been to Wendy's in a year . RIP Dave
Bah, they are only concerned about the bottom line, and not the workers or customers. Food is good, company sucks. Tricon (the Pepsi spinoff that owns TacoBell, Pizza Hut, and KFC) recently opened their first three chain store here in Orlando, with all three under the same roof. Kinda getting a little cramped, I'd say. RIP Dave Thomas.
Just noticed that mfclark already noted this . . . Actually, KFC, Taco Bell and Pizza Hut were owned by Pepsi. They were spun off into a seperate company not too long ago. The new entity is Tricon, and I believe Pepsi still owns a VERY large portion of the spin-off.
