I've seen a million things with Star Wars, but I still can't understand why Lucas got rid of "Nub Nub". And I'm being hornery. I've been calling it years before it was dubbed "yub nub." (he he... they dubbed nub nub w/ yub nub.)

Again my awesomeness holds no bounds.

I digress. I still can't figure out why Lucas not only changed the ending theme to Return of the jedi, I also can't figure out why Lucas decided that, per his agreement, no new DVD can have the "Nub Nub" song on it.

    Orig. "Nub nub"

And here's Lucas' new rendition WITH FIREWORKS!

    <object width="425" height="350"><param name="movie" value="http://www.youtube.com/v/Ejm6K0TKwX4"></param><param name="wmode" value="transparent"></param><embed src="http://www.youtube.com/v/Ejm6K0TKwX4" type="application/x-shockwave-flash" wmode="transparent" width="425" height="350"></embed></object>

I mean, we grew up with that crappy thing. It would be like Grease changing one of it's songs permanantly to a Britney Spears song. ie. instead of "Summer Nights", they sing "Oops I did a K Fed."

I prefer the original. I still recall in 1993 when "Grease!" was being played there with Debbie Gibson as Sandi. And Debbie looked waayy hotter than I'd ever seen on those videos.

I chose to watch "Oleanna." which, by the way....... I repeats, by the way. was he best movie I've ever watched to debate. We talked about that that damn thing for weeks.. Up until i got stuck in a love triangle, which i lost.

I tend to lose focus. be happy for me. I have only 2 -3 years left in me!

Man, that is horrible! I love yub nub!

And that song is pretty OK, too!

After watching Return of the Jedi just yesterday with the fireworks, I could have swore there was some 'nub yub' in the ending. Its where it shows everybody dancing around and one of the ewoks hitting the helmets of the troopers. I don't think that Youtube clip caught it. While it may have been a condensed 'nub yub'...there was 'nub yub' none the less.

Whenever I hear about Lucas tweaking Star Wars, it always reminds me of this Mad TV skit:

The second song is better in my opinion considering that it's the end of one of the greatest trilogies ever made. While 'yub nub' was entertaining it was fairly anticlimactic.

Also, the recent DVD release of the original films has 'yub nub' on it if you want it on DVD. Each movie comes with the original release and the special edition. The original versions are untouched and basically transfers of the VHS tapes everyone wore out. You can find em individually for 15-20 bucks each.

If 'yub nub' were put into one of the prequels, everyone would be complaining about how dumb the song is and how stupid Lucas is for putting it in a movie.

I was not in the generation who got to see the movies in theaters (I was born a year after ROTJ was released) but from the time I was 6 til I was about 11 or 12 I watched one of the Star Wars movies literally every night. There's only a couple of changes that make me cringe in the Special Edition:

    - The new 'Jedi Rocks' song in ROTJ.
    - Jabba the Hut in "A New Hope.'

We all have to realize though that those changes are made for kids and watching the movies with kids you realize that they did their job.

I wasn't that attached the nub nub song. I have always loved Chewbacca dancing at the end though. :)

I don't have enough time to talk about this. Jedi Rocks and the stupid Yuzzem sucks though. I do miss Lapti Nek. I have it on my Ipod and that song rocks.

I'm not a huge fan of the Special Editions. The only changes I really like are the added Wampa footage and enhanced Cloud City in Empire. Greedo shooting first makes me want to cry.

But still The Empire Strikes Back is the greatest movie ever made. I just wanted to throw that in.

Is that Hayden Christensen's ghost in the end there?

I can't tell, but they definitely took out David Prowse as Anakin/Vader.

Yep, along with Greedo shooting first, it's one of the universally hated alterations in the DVD Special Editions. Plus it makes absolutely no sense.

I actually like the new ROTJ ending. It's a nice piece of music. The celebrations on all the planets makes it seem more like a galactic victory and not just one on Endor(although one wonders how the entire Empire could fall that quickly just because the Emperor and Vader died). And best of all, it adds a quick shot of Luke hugging Wedge. I don't know why that was missing in the first place.

But here's the catch. I like the Special Edition ROTJ ending, not the DVD one. The DVD ending has the retarted Hayden ghost plus the celebration on Naboo with Jar Jar screaming "Wesa free!". Since I prefer to think the prequels never happened, I don't like these annoying reminders.

Well, the Emperor and Vader are the only 2 Sith lords (always 2 there are, no more, no less) so I guess if you take them both out at the same time, down goes the whole Empire.

I actually liked the new edition of ROTJ. Adding the real Anakin's ghost brings the whole story together better for me than having some old man we've never seen before IMO. Also, I agree that the whole orchestra playing the dramatic John Williams music at the end is a lot more dramatic than the 'nub nub' song...

BTW, the more I watch the prequels, the more I like them. They've been all over HBO the last few weeks so I've kind of given them a second chance. After seeing how ROTS brings the whole story together, the first 2 make more sense than they did originally.

The band at my best friend's sister's wedding played the old Ewok song during her reception. It was friggin hilarious.

If I ever get married again, I'm ripping this off. That is hysterical.

I know a guy that played the "The Throne Room/End Titles" (from the medal ceremony end of the original Star Wars) after they got married walking back down the isle. It was pretty cool too.

Is that a cross between "horny" and "ornery"? Does that mean you are ornery because you are horny or horny because you are ornery? Either way it sounds painful for 5 am.

Well of course that second clip is crap..because that's not even the music that's played in the Special Edition ROTJ...it's that other "tribal" music, which I admit felt weird at first but does fit better (along with the added clips of all the other civilizations and Hayden's ghost) within the grand scope of the whole series.

In fact, after seeing ROTS and then watching the originals and seeing Hayden return as a ghost at the end, it chokes me up a little in a way Sebastian Shaw never did.

-watching those clips makes me want to watch some Star Wars :D

True, but Episode II is the only prequel I remotely liked, so I don't mind being reminded of that. :)

What about those "regional governors" that Tarkin referred to in Star Wars? Were they that incompetent that they couldn't maintain control over their planets for at least a little while longer before the Alliance tried to overthrow them?

I'm the exact opposite. The Phantom Menace gets worse everytime. As does ROTS. I still like Episode II, although all the questions it brings up are meaningless since Lucas didn't answer any of them in the 3rd film.

At least TPM looks really nice in HD. Blows away the crappy-looking DVD.

I like the Nub Nub song, but as an ending to the series the new song is a better fit. As for the "Wesa Free" line, I look at that as grade-a unintentional comedy, so it doesn't bug me. Same thing with the lovetalk in episode II.

You like II more than III? You don't remotely like Sith?

    Sith Rocks.

I actually like I more than II now. I like II more when it first came out but I just like the story of initially finding Anakin. And I like Darth Maul. He was cool.
