Will all the talk about Odom in the other forum, I noticed Woods on another website. I cannot find anything on him as he is a juco player. However, this juco player is projected to be a top five draft pick. Can anyone provide me with additional info? http://nbadraft.net/profiles/qyntelwoods.htm
I have a friend that I go to college with that went to that high school the same time as him. I'll see if I can dig up any new info for you from him. What do you want to know?
Playing statistics, maybe some game recaps, whatever might help someone into evaluating him as a potential NBA pick. Some weblinks might be good also.
If this kid really were that good, he would've been all over the media by now. As it is, most people have never even heard of him. That's not to say that he won't be good, but a top 5 pick in this draft? Hardly...especially with the reluctance of drafting unknowns that high. A good comparison for him would be Kedrick Brown, someone who should be drafted in the 20s - assuming, again, that he has talent. NBADraft.net is a horrible rater of NBA pro talent, and their mock drafts and player evaluations are along the lines of ridiculous.
mf-Not too many people thought Kwame Brown would enter the NBA Draft a year ago. Much less become the #1 pick overall.
Everyone talked about Kwame Brown all year, though not in the same light as Eddy Curry. They assumed he'd go to Florida or enter the draft, and he got a lot of publicity throughout the season as he wavered back and forth on that commitment. People knew a lot about him even at this point last year, something that only intensified. No one knows anything about this Qyntel Woods character. He could be good; who knows? But why is a team going to take a huge risk on this type of player? Currently, I liken him to a cross between Kedrick Brown and Jamario Moon, both good juco players. Look where they both are right now - one on Boston's bench, the other in the NBDL.
I coudn't myself understand how this guy got rated so highly, hence the string. I found out he is currently headed to Memphis as a juco transfer and is thought of by many to be one of the two or three best juco basketball players. I also found out that he was measured at 6'7" in high school, 6'8" in juco and 6'9" by nbadraft.net. As far as seasonal statistics, I couldn't find anything at all. The only thing that really sent me salivating was the attached link. http://sports.yahoo.com/ncaab/columns/20011122/recruitingroundtablehelp.html If he truly is as good as those "NBA scouts" indicate, he would be worth considering if he is available.
here's a good article on Woods.... http://www.gomemphis.com/mca/tigers_mens_basketball/article/0,1426,MCA_652_979433,00.html Sounds like NBA scouts are watching with a <B>lot</B> of interest.
Definitely sounds like an interesting prospect and someone to keep an eye on. I hope he goes to Memphis so we can get a good look at him. (Wait a minute, I'm a UH alum\fan! )
