I know... It's a pretty pathetic title. I have committed myself to get healthy (mind, body, and attitude) and that involves quitting alcohol. Some of you might say, "A few won't hurt". Well for someone that has drank as much as me over a number of years, I'd rather quit. I'm looking forward to the positives, but man am I bored right now. I quit almost 2 weeks ago. What are some fun places where there aren't a bunch of drunken idiots around? Pour it on. It's tough not drinking, but I've had such an optimistic look about it that it's not bad. I'm just a little out of touch. I might be starting a new life and drinking would be a distraction. I know it sounds like I'm an alcy. Maybe I am. I really don't want it anymore. I want to get out more abd enjoy life while I'm young. What do you enjoy doing Friday nights and weekends. Weekdays are fine. I appreciate it.
Movies? Sports? Reading? Some kind of hobby. But there is nothing like good friends and good drinks. Guess that didnt help.
I actually quit drinking for 3 months one time (don't ask why...), and it wasn't bad at all. It's actually pretty interesting going to bars as the sober guy. You pick up on a lot of things that you wouldn't normally and it's fairly enjoyable. Other than that, I think you're resigned to a lot of weekends doing Sudoku puzzles and playing pinochle and WoW.
Dude, you're almost 40... Just retire and go golfing non-stop. i'm sooo just kidding... <3 Go boating or waterskiing or something. Nothing like weekends at the lake. With no alcohol.
reading periodicals, crocheting, puzzles, praying, hand jiving, pickleball, tapestry, hunt the wumpus, civil war reenactments, jazzercise, filibustering, chismbop, toss across, shrinky dinks, gourd harvesting, crystal growing...
i work at a club, so i drink at work and thats about it. In fact, i hardly frequent the industry that i work in.
Congrats! I stopped drinking back in February and haven't had a drink since. I still go to clubs every now and then and it is amazing how stupid people look and act when they're drunk. I am not against anybody else drinking though but I won't do it.
Does drinking really make your belly get bigger or is it just a myth? I just started drinking a year ago and I don't want no big a$$ belly.
vaioavan63: First, let me say congratulations on starting drinking! Secondly, you can say ass around here.
I'm not sure I understand what your saying. Why did you put that in your signature? I'm asking for ideas from people that have fun without alcohol and you respond with a quote and links referring to one of the biggest idiots in basketball getting drunk and strokin his spoke. Is this what you do for fun? I'm lost.
It depends on the person. If you get fat by taking in too many empty calories you qualify. I drank over a number of years and I didn't get a beer belly. After 2 weeks, I've dropped 8 pounds. It's not water weight, because I drink plenty of water daily. In the past, it was to get re-hydrated. Just don't go too far. Your body will tell you when it's not well. Sometimes it takes 22 years.
Well, now you can drive around, watch p*rn, and masturbate while sober. Still fun, but less dangerous.
