As Sam says, depends, if your in Manhattan, late at night from a bar and you're staying in Manhattan, it could be $10.
No way, 6 miles is a long way in manhattan. Cab rates are .40 cents per 1/5 of a mile, so 6 miles gets you at least into the 12.00 range, plus surcharges, traffic, tip, etc.
6 miles??? i took one in houston from the hotel to the rockets game that was very similar distance and it was $15. i would say between $15-20. use the subway and bus transit system if possible.
From financial district (Williams Street) to 5th Avenue. Will need one cab trip from office (5th Avenue) to hotel on evening of April 4th. And another from hotel to office on morning of April 4th. Both will be in rush hour traffic.
Not scared of it. But I'm not familiar with it and don't really want to have to go through a learning curve for it for such simple travel.
Your right --- I did a mileage check and my cab rides just seem like they are 6 miles or more but really they are normally shorter.
You got to give us the cross street on 5th Ave, it goes all the way up the island. But assuming that you're in midtown below the park, with 2.50 minimum, peak hour surcharges & tip - plan on spending 20$. It was 12$ fare plus tip to get back n' forth from wall street to the East Village when I lived there w/no traffic.
if both in rush hour....take the subway....there are zillions of subway platforms down by wall st....u can take the 1, A C or E...those are all west side trains....(1 and A go further south)
I think I'm going to. The reason I ask is... there's a hotel 1.5 blocks away from the office that costs $63 more. It doesn't make sense for me to turn that down if I'm gonna end up spending the difference on cab fare.
Yep, I know exactly which hotel that is, my office is not far away. 20$ is about right, including everything. That hotel is about 50 feet from the 2-3 line, though you'd have to change trains somewhere and pick up the F or D lines to get to where you're going. At that time of the day that might be faster.
Walk over to the 4/5 green line (the island is small down there) up to Union Sq (14th street). Then transfer onto the local green line 6 train up to 51st and lexington. Walk east to Fifth Ave. It should be faster than a taxi in rush hour traffic. You'll go crazy at the Herald Square/K-town area. (I did, and I had a moped!)
